I dimly remember a small booklet called Moore's Almanac knocking about the house. It seemed to contain predictions etc.
Even to my under-10 eyes it seemed absolute bks.

Did Nostradamus genuinely predict anything, or is it all complete bks?

The spontaneous combustion has been shown to be old fat people who accidently set themselves on fire and then basically turn into a slow burning candle for a few days. Hence I guess why it's no longer a thing.

There were three big documentary series that I remember from when I was little in the late 1970s / very early 1980s... I think I was even allowed to stay up to late to watch them: Connections with James Burke, Life on Earth with David Attenborough and Cosmos with Carl Sagan.

I love the sequence in your clip, though there are plenty of nitpickers in the YouTube comments... even a heretic suggesting Burke was added in front of the launch in post-production. But it shows the standard of imagination and attention to detail given to those flagship documentaries at the time.

There was also a long held belief that it was caused by excessive alcohol in the system because a lot of these people would be found with an empty bottle next to them. Basically going to bed with a cigarette blind drunk and doing what you said above.

James Burke, and Raymond Baxter (Tomorrow's World) were both superb presenters, especially of technical subjects.

I had the very messy job of refilling fathers grease gun as a small boy.

He used to write to Castrol for a free lubrication chart whenever he bought a new car, a huge 4 foot by 3 foot chart which went on the garage wall
