I get what you're saying - but looking at the recruitment stuff for the Army Music Corps it's very much "professional musician", there's no mention of soldiering beyond a few lines describing that you have to go through basic training at the start and the rather minimal physical entry requirements. It even explicitly refers to the career as being "a professional musician" and details the strict musical requirements before you can join. Cooks, drivers etc are different IMO - sure they might not be doing fighting as part of standard procedure but they're in combat support roles and hence get deployed etc.
My grandfather was an Army band master based in India. He didn't do any fighting, but I know he saw some pretty horrific things. Luckily he wasn't so traumatised that he didn't manage to take photos of much of it

I watched a documentary once about an incident on a US warship, where rogue personnel had assumed command. Sadly, like many they underestimated the cook, who turned out to be quite handy. Needless to say, said chef improvised, adapted and overcame, leading to the restoration of command on the vessel.
Sounds interesting. Don't suppose it's still about anywhere?

Give the guy some credit he's started very early in his career "Peter is a world-leading confined space rescue and forensic search specialist. Peter started his career at the age of five exploring disused mines and caves ..." Known by those in the know as the 'Human Mole'.
Who wouldn't 'volunteer' for the task given the free publicity and due regard if they do sadly find her in the water.
Given their ropes dexterity they look OK for cleaning windows of highrise buildings.

Oh dear.. just been catching up on the thread about the woman's disappearance and it seems that the guy's services are legit enough to have been used by police elsewhere before but that he's been rather enjoying the publicity/marketing opportunities this case is affording him and shooting his mouth off in regard to things that a very much not his remit.
Seems that way. Speculating on matters he has no involvement withpavarotti1980 said:
