Last Flag Standing.

Hmm, bit of an odd one, funny, in parts, great cast. Touching also. Reminded me of Sideways a little. Deffo 9/10

Steve Carell has come a long way to take parts like this. Cranston steals the show though.

Superb animation from Studio Ghibli. It has no dialogue making it all the more amazing that it's compelling through to the end.

The story is fairly straightforward. How they tell it is sublime.
Thanks for that - it's currently on Amazon Prime Video so I will watch it over the weekend. thumbup

Pirates of Caribbean - Salazaar's revenge

A dreadful turd of a film.

To be honest its what i expected but having not watched one since the first half of the third one I thought it may have improved. It hasn't. Don't watch it.

The first one was fun. The second one had me rolling my eyes, and I don't think I have watched another. Disney really seem to be milking it - how many are they up to now?

The Phantom Thread .

Daniel Day -Lewis is at the height of his powers and this is his last film. The story line can only be described as strange and somewhat disturbing but it is worth a look.

The Post.

Spotlight was a real highlight for me a couple of years ago, so perhaps that ruined this for me.

Very polished, very Hollywood, very Speilberg is how i’d summarise it. Streep and Hanks are immaculate, the cinematography is excellent. However the screenplay is clumsy, and characters have no depth. The feminism element is dealt with incredibly ham fistedly. For me, this film was instantly forgettable, which is a real shame as the story is not.

5/10.

Gee....I thought it was really good. Great cast and well acted too. Will Poulter is a revelation after seeing him in The Millers.

It gets better (La La Land).

Agree on Whiplash.
It doesn't. The traffic jam at the start is the highlight.

Love Whiplash.

3 Billboards. As good as everyone is making it out to be; quite a few twists in there that I didn't see coming too. Outstanding cast; 3 main players all knock it out the park; always great to see Peter Dinklage, Clarke Peters and Zeljko Ivanek on the screen to.
