3 Billboards. As good as everyone is making it out to be; quite a few twists in there that I didn't see coming too. Outstanding cast; 3 main players all knock it out the park; always great to see Peter Dinklage, Clarke Peters and Zeljko Ivanek on the screen to.
I liked it a lot, but am not really sure what twists you're referring to...I thought the ending was a bit abrupt. But the acting from the main players was superb, character development rapid and well done and it avoided that schmaltzy edge a lot of films are often given. Just wish the ending had been different.
8/10 for me.

Can't agree on La La Land. I had the same negative initial reaction to the freeway scene as the other guy. Finger hovering over the stop button then I thought if this was a Pixar or Disney animated romp I'd sit through it so I did and it was actually enjoyable. I loved the colours, I enjoyed the performances, it's not a particularly happy ending type film and I know that Ryan justabouttoyawn Gosling is not to everyone's taste but I thought a decent film doing something different to all the other mainstream crap that seems to require guns, revenge and some other super heroic b

it was pony (a dead one) 2/10 - two marks for the one funny bit during the ludicrous Spartacus scene
Fortunately I cleansed my palate with a later showing of Billboards which was bloody spiffing 9/10
La La Land is in my Top Ten films of all time that are utter sh*** from beginning to end and I hated Moonlighting as well.
On a !ore positive note, I watched The Red Turtle which was weird but wonderful, even if the crabs stole every scene and I also watched Fargo and that was pretty good too.

Yes, it's a great film. I love how Dalton lapses into a thick German accent once he is revealed to be a German baddie near the end of the film, in order to make it clear he is a German baddie.
Incidentally, there are rumblings of a remake.

What do kids (or ET) have to do with it? It's a 15 rated movie which would probably have been an 18 twenty five years ago. It's a (very) adult love story and I thought a beautiful one at that. This and Three Billboards easily the two best films I've seen in the cinema in the past few years but I can see why this might get the Best Director nod ahead of Three Billboards. Give the story to 100 directors and it's going go be an absolute cringeworthy car crash 99 times, but del Toro really really pushes it to the limit, never crosses the line and somehow makes a film with more heart than many straight love stories. All for $19m as well, ridiculously small budget for a film that looks that good.

It had a few dead spots to me so I'd only give it 7/10. Will watch the sequel to see what they do with it.
IT (2017) - pretty good. They’ve broken it up into two parts. I expect the 2nd part (when they are adults) to be better. The first part reminded me a lot of the goonies but just replace treasure hunting with ghost hunting. I think I preferred the style of the original over the remake.
Sideways - Paul Giamatti enjoying his Californian wine whilst attempting to get over his ex wife and put up with his college buddy on a week long trip. Great movie. I rate it highly in the feel good factor stakes.
