My new VX220 NA
Discussion
Hi,
Picked up my new VX220 NA last Sunday, thought I'd better get some photo's up.
It's a 53 plate with 40k miles & FSH.
I also own a DC2 Integra Type R which I've had for 5 years, I'm going to use the Teg as my daily car again having sold the Corsa on the weekend.

Looks good mate, i had a red turbo a few years ago. Thinking about getting another one, most fun car i have ever had. What do you think of the teg? I nearly brought one instead of my clio trophy, trophy is good but still not sure if i made the right decision. Oh red is the best colour for the dc2 to imo

Looks like a clean example. I will shortly be looking for a VX220 NA too and am a little undecided on the colour - I think it's between Red, Blue or Yellow and seeing your car is making me lean towards red!! Looks like a good purchase - well done
I was trying to avoid red as every car I have bought as been red & there is another red VX in my town. It's def one of the best colours, really liked the blue that I looked at also.

Yea love the Teg, don't know if I could ever sell it, such a great chassis with a briliant engine that just loves to be revved. Main thing I think the Teg has over the clio is the LSD. But I would still want to own a Trophy one day also, one of those cars that I need to tick off.

Lovely car. On my shortlist when I decide to change my DC2, funnily enough!
How do the 2 cars compare in a straight line? I understand the VX is quicker on paper as it's so much lighter, but does it feel all that quicker?
It doesn't feel that much quicker in a straight line tbh, but there is a more power low down in the rev range. Didn't really buy it for it's straight line speed, the steering feel and direction change is much better & it corners so much flatter. Have a test drive in one, I'm sure you won't be disapointed. How do the 2 cars compare in a straight line? Looks lovely in red, would be even nicer with black wheels and grills
Out of interest, how well regarded is the turbo version? Is it a lot faster? Reliability? Tunability?
Only had a passenger ride in a turbo so can't comment too much, but from what I've read they are a lot faster in a straight line. They are also a little bit heavier and as such the ride is a little softer. Think they are quite reliable, just has the engine from the Astra GSI I believe. They are very tunable, lots of people with stage 2,3 & 4 with lots of BHP & torque.

Great looking car - best colour too!! We looked at a Courteney turbo one before we bought our Boxster and although it was a fantastic car it didn't fit the bill for a daily. Massive bruises on your upper arm every time you get out??
No bruises LOL, takes a little bit of getting used to getting in & out, but once mastered it's easy enough.I bought a set of TD's late last year, finally got around to fitting them yesterday
The VX220 comes with 17" wheels all round & you are very limited to the tyres that you can fit on the front as they are only 175 wide. The TD's are 17" rear & 16" front and means I can run a 205 front tyre.
It has taken me a while to decide what tyres to go for. I wasn't convinced by the main 3 people use on VX220's, so I have decided to go against the grain & have fitted the new Bridgestone Potenza RE002. I've only done a few miles on them & the tyre pressures were in the mid thirties (way too high), but first impressions are very good.
I'm doing a Euro road trip next month, so I should know if I like them after 2,600 miles

I wanted to be a bit different, so I have opted for Anthracite TD's. Normally people go for satin Or gloss black.

Plus it should match my Integra Tyre R quite nicely

I think I prefer the look of the original wheels, but it will handle so much better and I'm sure they will grow on me.
