Hi there,

Currently got a TVR Sagaris and thinking about moving up to a 458 Italia. All the technical specifications on the net give the width of a 458 as 1937mm - I think this is with the mirrors out??

If I'm correct, does anyone know the width of the car with the mirrors folded.

I'm worried that my garage might need some DIY!!

Thanks a lot

Just a bit of a 'feasibility study' at the moment hence asking questions on PH rather than going to a dealer. Not even test drove a car yet (!!). The Sagaris is a blinkin quick car and gets lots of attention -I do love it so will remain in the TVR section for a little while yet but I do have a Ferrari itch that needs to be scratched sometime in the not too ditant future.

Cheers

The 458 is exactly 7 feet wide with the mirrors folded in - the 7 feet being the edge of one folded mirror to the other which is the widest part of the car.

Don't forget you have to be able to get out of the car as well ... so factor that in.

Thats not the problem - my garage is actually quite big but the door is not!! The purpose of my post was to find out if I have to budget a bit of money to get the garage door widened!!

Cheers for the post though

yikes Given that you own one I guess I shouldn't be questioning your answer but - from my calculations - that does mean even folded in, the mirrors stick out about 10cm wider than the widest part of the body work which I think is the front wheel arches. If true, me needs to get the garage door widened!!

I can't help with the immediate problem I'm afraid, but I would request a rebuild diary in the Homes, Gardens and DIY section if it does need widening! Pics of the car are obligatory too I'm afraid! wink

The folded mirrors are the widest point due to their mounting position on the door. I had to have German made Horman sectional garage doors fitted which don't require a conventional frame thanks to their inboard track design. That gave me nearly an extra 4 inches across my garage door opening which is plenty to get the car in and out with the mirrors folded in. http://www.hormann.co.uk/garage-doors/sectional-do...

Depends on what the state the electric on the car is in and what battery.

I've left my 355 stood for over 2 weeks and its fired up without any issues. And the battery hasn't been changed for at least the past 5 years.
