I sent some car parts that I was swapping with another forum member.

I sent my parts using the excellent Interparcel website

http://www.interparcel.com/

meaning UPS collected and delivered them for £8ish next day (they claim 48hrs but IME its always been next day)

Despite my warnings that Parcelfarce are rubbish he sent his parts to me by GUARANTEED 48hr delivery.

Needless to say they didn't come within 48hrs (Thursday) and despite chasing on Friday they didn't return my calls. They did finally return my Email on Monday and delivered the parcel.

As it took me considerable time to chase it up (I'm self employed) AND it took more than twice the GUARANTEED delivery time I said I'd like to claim.

It seems that no matter how late its delivered the max claim is 25% of the postage price !

So yet again my I suggest that anyone posting anything over a couple of quid does NOT use Parcel Force as they are utterly useless.

We use Parcel Force at work and send out hundreds of parcels a day. We make about 1 claim a week so they are not all bad.

They said they didn't deliver as they couldn't find the house.

It's only been there for 300yrs !

Funny how after I chased them up they were then able to find it.

Oh and they didn't try to deliver on Sat as "Sat delivery wasn't paid for"

NO BUT THURSDAY WAS !

The only times we have real problems with them is when they get temporary drivers due to illness or holiday etc. It's just unlucky it happened to you.

I'm not aiming this entirely at you by the way, but it does get my goat when a company makes one mistake and people go apest at them. Say for example a company sends out 10000 items a day and 1 item is sent out wrong. It doesn't mean the company is st.

If you have had repeated problems with them for months or years then I understand where you're coming from but if it's just this one instance I think you're over reacting.

BTW I'm not a spokesperson for them.

Unfortunately its not a one off.

The house is one mile outside the village (but on the main road) so if they are nearing the end of their shift they simply don't bother coming out.

All the other couriers I've used have never had a problem - and for anything over £8 postage the couriers are cheaper.

Plus as I said they did bugger all to resolve the issue

When I was sending a lot of mail order stuff I had all kinds of problems with parcelforce. Switched to DHL in the end. I think it depends a lot on who your local driver is to be honest.

It seems from where? I take it they have terms and conditions?

I asked how to claim and was pointed to the website which said the max amount to claim for late delivery is 25% of the fee paid - which I doubt would cover the call costs.

Obviously I didn't read them previously as I didn't send the parcel. I did ask the sender NOT to use Parcel Force as I've had problems with them in the past.

Depends on whether you are willing to expend more time dealing with it I suppose. But was the order made over the web and did the sender expressly agree to that restiction of liability?

Well,

Royal Mail also come high in my "shower of st" award

There Special Delivery/Recorded Delivery is the biggest load of wk going

Recorded delivery in particular gets my goat - apparently you can only claim 15 working days after posting

Right, so first class recorded post and anything up to 14 working days is somehow acceptable?

I questioned the fact they dont make this fact known at the PoS, but apparently its on their website (thats ok then!)

Special Delivery - a few weeks back, out of 10 items sent, 4 arrived on time (and no, I'm not including any that were attempted)

I live in Norway.

Ordered a watch from China, and a strap to go with it from London.

Watch has been here two days, the strap is currently in orbit around Saturn.

If I was HRH Queen Elizabeth II, I'd get my mug off the stamps sharpish, and replaced with the picture of a tortoise. A dead one. In a wheelchair. With rusty wheels. Down a fking well. On a Sunday.

Angry Apples - i find it hard to believe only 4 out of 10 specials were delivered by 1, were any of them for sat and did you pay the sat dely surcharge?
Down here in somerset we have to change the start/finish points of the delivery to ensure they get done by 1pm otherwise it gets flagged up on a computer, we've also sent a driver down to torquay once because the sender put ta instead of tq as the postcode.

I was sent an item on Tuesday to enable me to fit it and use the car at the weekend for the biggest show of the year. It was guaranteed 48hr delivery and the tossers didn't reply to my call on Fri and didn't sent it Sat as it hadn't been paid for a Sat delivery.

It then arrived on Monday.

So double the working days late or triple in real bloody world days !

And it seems the guarantee means they will give you £2 back - WTF guarantee is that ?

It sure as hell doesn't publise that when charging you more.

Tell you what give me £100 and I guarantee I'll double it.

And if I don't I'll give you 25% of it back.
