My first proper car? BMW E46 Sport!
Discussion
Evening all,
so in 3 years of having my license I've gone through 4 mopeds and 10 cars. Number 10 is finally something special though. It's my first RWD car, first DIESEL car, first 6spd car... etc but most importantly - my first BMW!!
About a week ago I travelled down to London ( remember the thread?) and have finally had chance to get some pictures yesterday.
It's a 320d Sport in BMW Indivdual Estoril Blue. It's beautiful.

the car was always for sale before I even started looking, the more and more I looked I realised it was the spec I wanted.. Alcantara seats being the main one!
The mileage isn't low but I'll look after it, just ordered some Vredstein tyres for the rear (255/35/18 on special offer at CamSkill @£120!) but overall I'm in love with the car!
Before anyone tells me what I should have bought instead, the amount of cars that went through my head before buying this were endless. I'm 99% confident I've made the right choice
Comments welcome.

I liked your old 172 more
In all seriouseness though, Estoril is a lovely colour for the e46. How does the drive compare to the Clio? I would worry it would feel significantly slower after the Clio if I made a switch like that, though I bet it's a much nicer place to spend time in.
It's definitly slower, but that's not something I'm surprised by. The power delivery is a lot fiercer (thanks to the torque+turbo?) I wouldn't say it's a slouch anyway. Most insurance companies still wont quote me @19 due to "the cars high performance"

Nice, I've been looking at 320d Coupes and E46 325ci's with the TV's and H&K sound systems etc all for around 5K with around 100K on the clock 325's with around 80K with all the toys for that money.
Look great with the "sport" front bumper with the lips.
Great buy
Oh really? I'd have loved a 320cd but couldn't get a good one within a budget. Finding a good 4dr sport in budget was hard enough! lolLook great with the "sport" front bumper with the lips.

I was behind, well once it had overtaken me, a Astra Coupe Turbo today and did think for a moment what might have been... but then of course I looked down at my steering wheel and saw the badge staring back at me

Very, very nice. If it's hasn't had one, get a professional detail, look after it and you'll hardly lose any money at sale time (assuming you'll be selling it and moving on at the rate you have been!)
Ha, Well my mate is handy with a buffer, he did a great job on the Clio so that is likely to happen with a few quid his way... or maybe a crate of san miguel

Looks great. I had the alcantara seats in my 330 sport straight after having leather in my 330d sport.. I preferred the alcantara seats tbh, until I came to sell and next to nobody wanted it :-(
Really? Well they can go stuff, I love it

Well I've just bought an E46 in Flamenco Red and although I love it, I have to concede that Estoril Blue is really the best colour.
Never heard of Flamenco Red although I do really like Imola red. As said in OP I originally had my heart set on an Imola but had to sacrifice for the Estoril loljames_gt3rs said:
E39 M5 looks fantastic in that colour.

Nice motor and loving the enthusiasm!
I run Vredestein Sessantas on my E92 M3, great tyre in the wet, good as anything else in the dry.
