Sounds like Leicestershire Trading Standards are already on the case of this lot - definitely worth making contact with them.

All the best...

Rang them tuesday and was told they`d ring me back with a progress update in 24 hours. Heard nothing, rang again thursday and the phone gave a message stating "this phone number is not taking incoming calls" ....panic...!!!! Sent an eMail asking what was going on. Received a reply stating there was a problem with BT. Rang today and spoke to a very polite chap who said he would investigate the progress and get back to me by 4p.m. .....3.45 and the phone rang.....!!!! Apparently, I will have the tax disc and authorization to put my new number on my car by a week on tuesday.... I`ll give another update after then..

I'm rooting for you mate - I lost a similar amount of money a few years ago when a furniture company went into receivership...not nice.

Surely if you paid by credit card, then like any other faulty goods, you can claim it back off them , no?

Waited `til thursday and then followed the instructions of Leicestershire Trading Standards.. i.e. sent a Recorded Delivery letter stating that I was giving them one week to complete the transaction or refund my money, after this time I will be commencing with legal proceedings. As for payment with a Credit Card, .......surprise, surprise, they wanted payment by Bank Transfer or cheque........ I know, I know.... the alarm bells should have rung then but with them being a well-known name, I didn`t think anything would go wrong....

Sounds like they never owned the plates in the first place.
Get the money of someone, then buy the plates cheaper of someone else.
I sell plates and the buyer would have the documents the day after payment... simples.

I bought my plate a few years ago and it took about 2 months to come through - from N Ireland so not sure if that was why

I definitely paid them by card when I bought my plate a couple of years ago - so I wonder if there has been changes there.

Worth noting that the number I actually bought wasn't available and they offered me another, more expensive one in it's place for the same price, so I expect they are just a reseller for others.

I bought a plate from them a couple of years ago and it took no time at all. Beleive I paid them with paypal. Seems like they've gone downhill. Hope it all works out.

Right answer but wrong link. The link you have is for Republic of Ireland, the OP asked about Nortern Ireland. Try http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/index/information-and-s...
