Congratulations. I just recently picked mine up too.

Maybe its the rosso tinted glasses but the cars looks have grown on me even more post purchase. I really do think its a beautiful car.

Have you lowered it yet ? They look a million times more 'right' when lowered to sensible ride heights (and dont look like they have that awful negative rake).

Not had it very long and still getting used to it so not considering doing anything to it at present. Might look into it in the future though. Do you have settings you would recommend? That said I don't even know what the standard ride height is.

To my mind the 360CS is a million time better looking than the standard car which I think has a lot to do with ride height.

I agree. If you lower a 430 quite drastically it really starts to look quite a bit like a CS in the wheelarch area (see pic below). A lot of the CS 'thang' is the ride height as you say. F430 is sexy too ! And IMO the back is miles nicer/modern than the strad's rear.

Typically owners seem to lower them around 20mm, althought i've heard of 30mm and often a little less on the fronts than the rears. The actual Scud was always quoted in the tech info as having 15mm lower ride height though over the stock 430.

Someone like QV London have done quite a few and you can swap to scuderia springs as well at the same time if you like (the steel cheaper ones). This combination is supposed to give excellent results if you like a slightly keener drive (atlhough still not harsh at all). Of course you need a full Geo afterwards as the camber etc. will be totally cock-a-hoop. A lot of 430's i've seen have awful ride heights, especially on the fronts. The car looks like its in 4x4 offroad mode on air suspension or something.

Is my mind playing devious tricks, or are there genuinely x2 360s in that front garden?

I've recently bought a 430 F1 Spider to replace a 360. It's genuinely surprising how different these cars are. The 430 looks more modern and hard-edged, though perhaps not as pretty as 360 but the 360 was much more raw - especially the engine note high up.

The torque in a 430 really influences the driving experience and everything does seem more honed. I found the mannettino to be a real boon but can't say too much about the handling yet.

I can see what people are saying about the ride height. If you lower it, say 15mm, (which I don't plan any time soon because on balance I don't think the standard height looks too bad) does it play havoc with speed bumps, car park ramps etc?

i think the UK ride height was set very high and that it can be adjusted without replacing parts. i had skid plates fitted under my front spoiler as even with it looking high it still grounded out on my garage ramp unless very careful. shame no lifting gear was offered.

I'm thinking about getting my 360 lowered about 2cm's. It has 19" F430 wheels on it; do you think I'll have to roll the wheelarches fot this? I don't think the CS had rolled wheel arches did they?

Thanks

My 430 ride height...

Lowering is essential, UK spec is way too high.

I used Backdraft motorsport in MK, who did the lowering and also a slightly more agressive geo setup for me. Car is miles better.

looks like a nice bit of camber on the fronts as well smile

430 is transformed by a lower ride height

For comparison...

How they let these car go out the factory this high is beyond me. Also how anyone could have silver wheels on a Grigio car is also beyond me. This car was transformed (IMHO) with just a few little changes wink

The F430 with standard suspension that I drove ground its bottom out on compressions when the going got interesting. How do these lowered suspension cars fair on choppier roads?
