Hi all,

I'm on the look out for an early Chimaera 400 and I went to look at my first one this weekend. Could someone quickly explain what some of the dash warning lights are as it wasn't very clear. I've attached pictures below to show which ones I mean. The first set of light are the ones above the 3 headlight buttons. I know the MIL one is an engine check light, and the 2 in the middle are to do with the handbrake/brakes, but what is the one on the far right for? It looks like a circle with a vertical line in it?

And then between the speedo and the rev counter was a green LED at the top, a yellow LED in the middle and a red LED at the bottom. I'm sure one of these is oil pressure and battery charging, but not sure which.

I've tried to search the forum, but there seems to be various arrangements of warning lights throughout the Chimaera years so couldn't determine exactly what they were.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Not sure about the central LEDs but the circle with a line through is the fuel pump inertia switch warning light. The oil pressure and battery is in the speedo I think and the LEDs may be the ice alert.

Based on my 94 400 that has the same LED layout.....
The top red one - Battery/Alternator
The middle yellow one - Oil Pressure
The bottom red one - Alarm

From the Handbook - The Warning light cluster is as follows

MIL (Fuel Injector Warning Light} - red
P in a circle within brackets - Handbrake warning lamp - red
! Same circle and brackets with a "!" in the middle: Brake Fluid warning Lamp - red
i Same circle (no brackets) with an "i" in the middle - Inertia Switch Warning Lamp - orange

On '93 Chim leds are - top red - alarm, middle, yellow - oil pressure; bottom red - ignition.

Your leds between the Speedo/Tacho will be different, but I bet your warning lamp panel is the same as above.

Obviously they weren't too carefull with consistency in the wiring. hehe

It would have depended whether Bob or George was on the glue gun that day. wink
And even funnier is reading the owners manual which would have you believe the top one was something to do with the indicators, the middle one the battery/alternator, and the bottom one the Alarm. rofl

The green one up top is probably going to come on when you indicate - mine is like that... the alarm is the red one at the bottom, and I've no idea what is yellow =D

Thanks for all your replies. I guess I'll have to check to see which ones are on (or go out) as it starts up and then play around with all the switches and indicators and work it out from there.

Thanks,

Tim

I have just pulled out the old dash on my Chimaera and noticed that the warning light on the Tacho isn't attached to anything! Can anyone tell me what this warning light is and how to re-attach it?
