Anyone have a extractor fan in their garage?
Discussion
The amount of air that flows through a bathroom extractor is pitiful. Even if you had a proper air handling unit in there, the effect of leaving the doors open for a minute or two would still outweigh the efficiency of an extractor fan IMO. Looking at your fleet, it's not like you have a 7 litre V8 in there which would be an entirely different situation
Are you sure the cars not running rich and over fuelling so you notice it more?

I'm talking from experience in the past when I've reversed previous cars in. I may try and reverse the Elise and see how it is. Maybe a better seal around the adjoining (into the house) door would stop the smell/fumes coming in.
I'll give it another go if a normal extractor isn't going to work

I have one of these in my basement. Very quiet and very powerful:

May I ask how much?http://www.systemair.com/en-gb/systemair_products_...
The obvious question is why don't you drive in forwards rather than reversing in?
However, glad you asked the question because I have similar issue that the Tvr has to stay outside for an hour or so to avoid the evaporation from the carbs etc filling the place with fumes! (and I push the car in)

I do but I'd prefer to reverse in as it's easier to get in with the mirrors and drive out. It's no big deal really. If a normal extractor solved the problem then great but as it sounds like I need a £100 item then I'll leave it.However, glad you asked the question because I have similar issue that the Tvr has to stay outside for an hour or so to avoid the evaporation from the carbs etc filling the place with fumes! Cheers for the help guys

Whenever I've reversed my car into the garage it's filled the place with exhaust fumes. Driving nose first is more difficult (not impossible) but I'd prefer reversing in.
Does anybody else have an extractor fitted? I assume I can just a normal bathroom type?
I'm fitting a short extractor (bathroom 110mm type) from the ceiling to the eaves of my new garage. It's not instant clear but a 15minute timed overrun after the doors are shut will clear a lot of the smell TBH - if I need more I could always fit a second I guess.Does anybody else have an extractor fitted? A small quiet Manrose one will clear 85m^3 per hour, so use that to judge how much you want cleared and in what time. For instance my floor area is about 48m^2 and average height is 2.5m, giving a volume of 120m^3, so I'd need 1.5 hours to clear it with one of those.
If however I get a Manrose mixed flow fan that does 245m^3 per hour I'd be looking at 30 minutes. As the prevailing wind comes into the front of the garage (and the fan is at the back) I reckon about 20 minutes would be more than enough.

I remember now that I first tried this when I had a nasty smelly diesel.
