So, Just MOT'd the Cerbera and it passed

Mine, I bought for £5400 then spent £260 on a new screen, bought new carpets £30 (carpetrite) re did all electrics (£200) new shocks (300) Brakes (bleed nipples re-engineered) and new lines £300 etc

All in about £7500

All chassis intact!! Is this the cheapest in UK?

I still theoretically need a part respray due to lacquer peeling on roof and bonnet

No, my 4.5 cost less than your total, and had 6 months MOT. It did have an overheating issue and an unflattering paint job. DJSteveC's 4.5 was a similar price, and he ran it for 9 months before doing any serious work.

After 12 months I've spent much more on fuel than on maintenance, and that's the way it should be.

I absolutely accept that this may feel like we're devaluing our cars but we're not... by buying it cheap normally means spending a fortune but what I'm interested is the initial outlay and the subsequent work by a bunch of heroes who have the knowledge and skill to re-invent them!!
If anyone is offended by this thread, I'll remove it.

Well for what its worth I'm not offended, I think you guys who have bought cheaply are:

a.) very lucky if it's all working fine
b.) going to have huge bills if it doesn't
c.) if you have the skill to do it yourself - then hats off to you all

I'm rubbish at mechanics, but fantastic at keeping my looking super clean - I paid what I thought was a decent price for my 4.5, but have spent nearly £10k making it into what I want - I'll never get that back if I sell, but when I look at it sitting on my drive it makes me grin like and over excited school boy.

I think any cerbera could potentially face huge bills as they are very unpredictable beasts, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can save a lot buying a cheaper car and having a drivable project as well as it been rewarding seeing your hard work pay off rather than buying a minter from the start ...

Been saddend by what this classic car has now seemed to have become, l have had my cerbera for 13 years and had lots of great times and bad and because the prices have dropped to silly levels for a car that looks and performance of fezzas, lambos etc and now max power brigade and boy racers are buying them they are putting all sorts of crap on them different wheels, lights, grills in the bonnet, spliters, my ones got this chip cost me £1000 and gives me 5bhp more wop de do, now being trimed by Carprite right, wonder what peter wheeler would make of it, for those who dont know he owned tvr and made the marque famous even with thier niggles they s great cars treat them as they deserve, rant over

Cheers Billy no brakes...

I have made a brilliant job of the interior and the carpetrite carpet is actually the same sort as what was in it! I have resurrected a knackered Cerb with skill and tenacity. Mine may be cheap but that is because I have the ability to do it all myself and feel very proud of how it has turned out. It has spider alloys, original lights all round and doesn't have boy racer additions. I have kept it completely standard.
I have some decent exhausts ready to fit and some decats. These cars were built to be enjoyed, not kept in a garage and rubbed with a cloth whilst wearing a matching overall to the prancing horse bodywork with one's name on the back.
Thinking of that... I HATE these wierdos who ride a Harley and wear all the Harley gear... sad!

Don,t get me wrong but over the few years there has been an element of people buying these car and completley ruining them and I get realli p--sed off having to read what they are doing just got to the end of the road, sounds like your doing a good job which I applaud, maybe word you threads different and explian a bit more, come on it could have been a floral carpet you bought from carpetrite, I will have to look at what you done so far, by the way I have just spent close on £4000 on mine as she was looking a bit rough and the interior needs doing so would be good to look at your work, if you want a respray let me know and I will point you in the right direction just had all mine done except the boot and roof and you would not believe how much for, I won,t put on here how much or I will get loads of emails, trust me on this when I get behind the wheel of my Cerb it gets driven how it should be.

Read my thread on what I have just spent on my Cerb and not cut any holes in the Cerb to spoil the lines of this great british car
