After being out on my bike a few times recently (1198) I have found myself wanting to ride like a tt most of the time and am considering going back to a naked bike because I think that would help with lower top speeds!

I had a ride on my mates Superduke and it was awesome, I did nearly get one last year but instead got an Aprilia Dorsoduro which I got rid of 4 months later as it was a bit slow.

Another bike I was considering was the Ducati Streetfighter and wondered if anyone had any experience of them?
I'm not sure whether the 848 would be fast enough, but maybe if it turns in a lot better than the 1098 Streetfighter S it would be ok? I will hopefully ride them both soon but the bigger Streetfighter is hard to find.

So far I'm thinking:

Superduke (would have to be the 'R') 123hp /73 lb-ft

Streetfighter S (1098) 155hp /85 lb-ft

or Streetfighter 848? 132hp /69 lb-ft

Any experiences of any of them, or suitable alternatives welcome!

I can't believe the lack of torque of all them, I thought they were meant to be fun?

The 1100 monster has nearer 100lb torque. That's low-speed fun (but will do 150-odd if you're that committed).

Now that sounds better. I'm used to 97lb/ft on my 14 with 124bhp, seems about right on a naked bike to me.

The standard Superduke I rode certainly felt fast enough for the types of road I mainly ride, usually A/Bs. Not massively keen on the looks of the Monster but will probably try one anyway!

According to the Ducati web site.

Monster 1100
Power 100hp (73.5kW) @ 7500rpm
Torque 76lb-ft (10.5kgm) @ 6000rpm

Hypermotard 1100
Power 95hp (69.9kW) @ 7500rpm
Torque 75.9lb-ft (10.5kgm) @ 5750rpm

I tried the Superduke R on the road and I bought a normal Superduke.

The R might have the grunt but it doesn't make a good road bike in my opinion. It's more like a track bike; the seat is hard as nails [even with an optional gel seat] and the suspension is sprung too stiff for bumpy UK roads.

Yes, trouble is in my opinion the R looks way cooler! Could probably put a standard seat and soften the suspension up but I couldn't bring myself to buy the standard version because I love the looks of the R. Stupid I know!

I'm going to ride the Streetfighter 848 back to back with my mates Superduke next week and see what I think.

Having ridden and owned most things, the most amazing bike for all round fun has to be MV AGUSTA BRUTALE 1090 it will power wheelie in 3rd!
I had a standard 990 Super Duke,thats great too.

Weather permitting I should be taking a 848SF out on test this weekend.

One of my mates has ridden one and his report was, I thought it was the perfect bike to help me keep my licence on the road, until I came out of a corner and popped it up onto the back wheel, it was only when I slotted second that I realised the car in front of me was a police car!

So a proper hooligan tool by all accounts wink

I just read a review on the Streetfighter S in Fast Bikes and they rated it pretty highly... I think I'll struggle to find one to test anywhere.

That's a good looking bike. I was at a dealer saturday an the SuperDuke was one of the bikes that caught my attention immediately, even though there was a lot of tasty machinery around.

150 mph?

My 1100s monster struggles to go above 120mph.

100% I've seen 152 on a couple occasions now. Would guess that's nearer 140 actual but still decent. I have fitted a "race" screen.

Nice looking bike! I was contemplating one as I had been offered a very good deal on a discounted 2011 model from a dealer in Wales. He offered me £1500 more than anyone else for my bike and the "SDR" was discounted by about £1200 aswell. Just couldn't face "that seat" though! Some weekends I struggle with 450 miles on my SMT. I would of been crippled on the SDR.

I've seen 150mph on my Tuono (and have the dashboard high-speed log to prove it) but it's effin hard work to get up to, and hold on at, that speed.

And I'm saying that as someone who has maxed out a litre sports to an indicated "governed" 186mph quite a number of times, and found that strangely undramatic.
