2 chinooks circling above angel - did about 5 laps? Any ideas, am I missing something?

Usually see one or two every week. There is a flight path through London over the Thames but sometimes they deviate a bit.

They're regulars. Same 2 went over my office a couple of times as well.
Saw them yesterday on their usual route along the Thames, very low and loud - very recognisable sound!

I think they are just transiting from one side of London to the other, but do it over the Thames for safety.

Do you also notice these - they aren't as easy to spot / hear as Chinoooks

Funnily enough they were over the office making a hell of a racket whilst I was turning one out.

Are you stalking me?

Nope.

Today's shirt isn't really 'you' though.

I did wonder what was going on, I knew what it was because I hear them all the time (I'm sitting near Bank) but they don't usually circle like that.

We get helicopters land over the road (sometimes Chinooks), at the HAC HQ. Not today, though.

Normally land at the Honourable Artilery Company's sports ground off City Road. Could be too windy for them to get in today. Makes a bloody racket when they do come in to land. Not in office today so can't confirm thats where they are heading.
Could also be on some pre Olympics traning exercise.

Normally? Not really. Yeah it's got an HLS, but doesn't mean that must be where they're going.
Holding for a route through the helilanes. Nothing to see here.

One there every couple of months. Have had two in there at the same time. Had one last year giving trips out on it, so was in and out every ~20 mins.

The helicopter "lane" over London is along the Thames.....i.e. if a helicopter takes off from Battersea and wants to fly to say Cheshire the route is fly east to Tower Bridge and at that point can start heading North West.

I don't do these things very often but once got a helicopter from Battersea to Herefordshire and that's the route we took and was explained as such by the pilot.

One was over High Halden near Ashford, Kent this afternoon at just a couple of hundred feet. My Dad said one was there last week doing the same at very low level.
