I need to know the annual UK cost of living for each of the years from (and including) 2008 but I cant find anything in google. Maybe I'm using the wrong search criteria.

I can find Inflation figures for the US but not the UK, but my understanding is that cost of living differences from inflation.

Can anyone point me to a website ?

Cheers

Have a look on the Office of National Statistics website, they should have historical data of RPI and CPI

This can be a minefield of confusion. This page has links to what you are looking for:

http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/cpi/consumer-price-i...

Scroll down to section 8 & look for the link to 'CPI & RPI Reference Tables'. Click on that & you can download an Excel file with the data.

In general you probably want Table 5 (CPI) & Table 20 (RPI). There's lots of information on the page describing the difference. As an indication (year: RPI/CPI):

Jan 2008: 209.8/105.5
Jan 2009: 210.1/108.7
Jan 2010: 217.9/112.4
Jan 2011: 229.0/116.9
Jan 2012: 238.0/121.1
June 2012: 241.8/122.3

Table 5b also has the percentage change in CPI over 12 months

2008: 3.6
2009: 2.2
2010: 3.3
2011: 4.5
2012: NA
