Help! Poxy new laptop problem

I'm fairly shti when it comes to laptop/computer nonsense & would appreciate some quick advice.

I have recently purchased an Asus N56 & am in the process of creating the backup DVDs. I am approx 60% of the way through the DVD creation process, yet it has taken 1hr & 45mins so far - what the fkkk is wrong ? Why is it taking so damn long?

I am royally fkkd off with the stupid machine now. I can see my evening descending into a farce of baby sitting this POS when I have far more pressing things to be getting on with.

To be honest I can feel your pain. A better idea is to get an imaging program but as a newbie I realise this might be a bit far fetched. If you have a spare £25 have a look at Acronis home software. Great wee program that will also work as a backup

To be fair, making the discs for my Dell took ages as well.

If I had the choice of paying a tenner for the discs to be supplied with the machine, or taking the time to burn my own (and the cost of the blank discs),I'd just pay for them.

Sadly, I think PC makers would want to charge £50 or something ridiculous which is poor bearing in mind we already paid them for the OS on the machine so it is only the cost of mass producing and supplying the discs.

Would have gladly paid a reasonable sum, but didn't have the option when purchased.

Try a different brand of disc, had this problem with both Acer and Toshiba in the past.

I now use good quality DVD-RWs then copy them to DVD an reuse the DVD-RWs
