Help with oil filter Acdelco pf 46

Hi guys,im after a Acdelco pf 46 oil filter,any ideas where i can get one or is there an equivalent i can buy at the local autofactors.

Is the filter for LS1 or 2 ? You have to be careful as I think the latter of the two filters has the built in pressure release valve, I use this one on my VXR8 LS2

It's a new Holden (chevy)ls2 bottom end with the l92 heads shipped over from OZ,the filter i have taken off is AcDelco PF 46.Been to the local autofactors and they gave me one twice as big,it would almost touch the floor on my car

I'm using one of an LDV van or something like that. Same as this one

This is for a 13/16" thread ( ie LS1/6 Camaro etc ), and this one does not have an internal bypass, which is why I chose it.
PF46 is the same dimensions and 13/16" thread.

I had used one off a K-series or something like that before, but it was slightly smaller in size and had an internal bypass.

I bet Monkfish could identify and supply. I'm sure they've previously said that the filter was car specific, rather than engine specific (oddly), which causes a bit of a problem with yours.

I always thought that the PF48 (VXR8) was longer, as it has an integral one-way valve, yet the PF46 (Monaro)used a valve ring on the engine, so was shorter...

They did alter the thread size when they fitted the bypass valve in the filter, best to have a look down inside the filter, you will be able to see the spring if it is the later one, but def make sure you get the correct one

We have them, lots of them Can mail order. As ARAF said, make sure its the PF46 you want. Feel free to call so we can be sure.

Best call MF they will have them in stock, def looks like the no relief valve in your filter, they did change thread size at same time so if it screws on ok then it's the correct filter

AFAIK the only thread change was that on more modern stuff they changed to a metric thread. M22x1.5 or so instead of the older 13/16"

At the side of the PF 46 in smaller numbers is 88984215 if thats any help

Yeah different thread. Id suggest the change coincided not with the car, but with the engine model.
The LS2 was 24x crank remember. It sounds like the 24x crank stuff uses the older pf46. While newer stuff the pf48.

Old fashioned Monaro LS2 takes one, but the superior VXR8 with the LS2 takes the other.

for all the help lads,i got the wife to order two off Monkfish in the end to save any hassle,this way i know i will have the correct filter.
