Audi Q5 Panoramic Sunroof rattle
Discussion
Morning all,
Curious to know if anyone else has suffered this problem. The rattle appears to come from the nearside edge just behind the front seat passenger
Car going into dealer this morning so awaiting their verdict.
I have seen the recalls on the Sunroof glass shattering in severe cold on USA and Canadian models

Hi, my name is Paul I live in Adelaide Australia. I noticed your post on the forum re your panoramic roof rattle on your Q5. I have a Q5 with the exact same problem and wondered what the outcome was after you took it to the dealer for a service.
I have booked mine in with the dealer in the next week or so and wanted to ensure they fix it first time while it is still under warranty.
Thank you for your time and look forward to your response.
Regards,
Paul

Hi Tarquin,
Thanks for your prompt response. Glad to hear they fixed it.
I have had my Q5 for over 2 and half years and the problem has just come about now. Was the rattle on your Q5 evident when you first bought it or did it come about after.
Did you request they change all screws or did they just do it as they knew what the problem was?
I noticed when I opened the sunroof to tilt the rattle goes away. Did you notice that when your sunroof rattled?
Mine is a late 2010 model, is yours same year.
Thanks again for your time.
Thanks,
Paul

I have the same issue as all others continious rattle. (2013 model)
When open even on first click the rattle stops.
Been back twice now stops a few days and returns.
I have spent some time checking screws etc. all seem sound it must be in the motor mechanisum.
Someone out there must have a solution??

It's a a common problem usually fixed by greasing the mechanism or sometimes replacing the whole sub frame.
My '15 SQ5 did it and was fixed by the Dealer 18months ago with no more rattles since.
There is a TSB - 2022733/2 which gives details of what needs greasing and the stuff to use if you want to DIY.
I have a copy but don't think I can upload it on here.

In the end I found the best solution was to buy the Porsche Macan... perfect midsize SUV and a build quality to match.
Real time cost is nowhere near what most people think as the residual is a far greater percentage of the cost price than that of a Q5.
First one I had , a 2015 model, I kept for a year and sold to Porsche for what I had paid new because the waiting list was so ridiculous.
Not quite the same residuals now but have the 2019 Macan S on order with a deposit going down on the electric version whixyis where everything is going now.
