Those 'blokey' films that you can revisit over, and over...
Discussion
Yea, there were certain films made in the 80/90's which were pretty much perfect.
Not just in the action movie stuff, but things like Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, The Goonies...
Maybe it is viewing them through adult eyes that makes newer stuff just not have the same effect. Nostalgia would be the key in those cases.

Agree with the last 2 posts. Love Rocky, (utterly under credited, especially the original, and the last one). I forgot First Blood as well on my list.
The Goonies, Time Bandits, The Holy Grail, and so on. Oh, and the Cannonball run and Duel.
The thing is that modern stuff doesn't seem to have this effect on me. It may be nostalgia, but the only film I can think of that I can watch repeatedly is LOTR, (extended version, obviously!). Nothing else really jumps out at me.
ETA, and hell yes, Mad Max films are in there, even the s
tty last one. And robocop, total recall, the Running Man.

Edit - I should add Die Hard and The Warriors to that list!

Roadhouse is pants.
I know the script to Highlander.
I mumble Long which annoys anyone else watching. Where Eagles Dare is a good one. War films just aren't the same, really. They have realism now, but none of the 'adventure'. Another of that ilk was 'Heroes of Telemark' which was proper adventure type stuff. I think I prefer the older B&W British war films than any other type of war film. They seem a bit more honest.

That's weird, i love highlander. It's one of my favourite filums. But i also love roadhouse despite itself. I know the script to Highlander.
