Parked my 997 overnight in public car park jn Rye, East Sussex. On returning to the car this morning there was footprints up the back of the car and the roof has stood on and dented inwards. (Photos attached). There doesn't seem to be any sharp creases in the dent. The incident has been reported to the police but I am unsure as to whether this warrants an insurance claim or whether it could be simply popped back out?? Was going to take to local body repair centre in morning but would appreciate anyone's views/suggestions.

It probably will pop out, but would still need filling etc afterwards. Bodyshops will more than likely quote for a new roof.

Try getting inside and kicking the roof back out again.

Seriously though, the fact there isn't any sharp creases will help alot, if you could pop it back out then it would be hardly noticeable as long as it doesn't crack the paint on the pop out, taking it to your bodyshop as you say is the best idea but roof dents are generally not cheap, its not as easy to replace a roof panel on most cars as it is to replace for example a wing or rear quarter.

Aaaargh, wkers. Would be pleasantly surprised if you manage to pop this back out.

That's not walking on a roof, it's jumping repeatedly on it. Antisocial little turds and the reason why I'm utterly paranoid about parking my M3 anywhere. First time I ever parked it "out" whilst visiting a nice country pub and I come back to it covered in ste.

What a fkwit that would make my blood boil.

Hope its a cheap repair - though I'd imagine roof lining has to come off and probably half a day min highly skilled labour working the debt out.

i hope you can get it fixed and find the jumper to have his dick balls and legs removed with a blunt rust axe to remind him not to do it again and to ensure he does not breed

That is absolutely disgraceful!

I personally wouldn't touch it and have a pro look at it. A dent guy might not be able to do it but might be able to point you in the right direction.

The doom monger in me says if the bonnet and back end are as bad - write off.

If your near Reading I can highly recommend a bodyshop which specialises in Porches old classics

Although I'd guess this is highly likely an insurance job which sadly will be a fault claim... As another poster has said that's not walking on the roof the tosser which got on the roof (or more than one) were bouncing on that over and over.

When I prepared my car for banger racing I did get on the roof to see how strong it was and back then I carried a few pounds 17 stone it didn't do much damage teas a st thin gauge Rover 216 F reg.

What will a Porsche dealer quote for replacing the roof panel, bonnet plus whatever else?
I'm not an expert on insurance but I bought a 2 month old demo Mk3 MX5 that had cracked nose cone, a cracked headlight and drivers airbag deployed. Cost me £800 to repair with dealer bought parts and labour.

I'd expect four figures to repair that but certainly not five! It wont be a write-off.

How much of that was a "like-for-like" hire car while it was being repaired? I'd guess over half.
