As in the title, I have now got the engine running and as the bonnet is therefore back on would like to spruce up the spade connected headlight connectors and make them properly water tight. Tried ordering some I thought were suitable before and found they were far too small and fiddly to assemble, hence I turn to the gurus on here.

Therefore my question is (for those of you who have done this) what connectors did you use, where did you buy them from and would you recommend them. I need a six way as my indicators are done (teranno headlights with original terranno connectors) but need to connect spotlights (live and earth), headlights (main, dipped and side with common earth)

Thanks in advance

Mark

Originally I used some connectors from RS, they were like miniature Anderson plugs, like some people use for battery jump leads. They're quite clever, you can clip them together to make little multiplugs. I used red for all lives and black for earths.
Not the best picture but here's half of them......

After a while (actually while repairing crash damage) I thought it was silly having connectors down by both hinges so they got "binned" and I went for one of those new fangled multi pin caravan/trailer plug 'n sockets and made a mini wiring loom for in the bonnet.
Another quality photo......(prototype stage)

I also used these, a little fiddly but really good in my opinion.

Anybody interested in tidying wire connections might find Car Building Solutions www.cbsonline.co.uk very interesting. See on line catalogue, particularly pages 113/114, up to 15 way connectors.

I’ve used these. They are easy to connect up and clip together well but they are not weather proof so really only suitable for internal use.

The Car Builder Solutions top quality waterproof ones are on page 114 these are the AMP Superseal series. A bit tricky to use until you get the hang, and only up to 6 way, but these really are the bees knees. 12amp per pin, max 1.5mm2 cable.

When I were a lad everything was joined together by these....

They certainly weren't waterproof.

(which is probably why cars used to break down a lot) hehe

Even with waterproof connectors a good dollop of this stuff won't do any harm (imho)

I'm looking at the online catalogue. Do you mean the ones at the top of p125? I tried these as well but couldn't get the little orange sealing grommets to fit once the wire had been pushed trough. I found the same problem with the one's Norman featured above. After spending 13 hours on just one side trying different types of plug & socket I cut my losses and re-fitted the originals and sealed them inside an inner tube. The next time they come off it will be Phillpot's solution for me.

Not sure the more modern version is much better...

Sorry Joe, I have a catalogue downloaded recently on my laptop, but it appears they have moved on already. You are right, they re tricky to use and you need the special tool but very good in use. However, the ones that Norman got from Autosparks (see his post above) do look very neat indeed. I wonder how easy they were to use? Come in Norman I need you again!
