Toyota previa vs sharan
Discussion
So looking at 7 seaters as a school run bus and a few road trips, up to 10k miles pa. Must be automatic transmission.
Looking at 4k mark maybe 5k at a push for something special.
Narrowed down to sharan tdi or previa 2.4 petrol.
Previa has the following going for it: space, reliability, 2 sunroofs, sliding doors (big bonus), usually good spec with parking sensors and cruise.
Not going for it is dodgy looks at the rear, probably thirsty, seats do not appear as versatile as a Sharan.
The Sharan can be had in diesel at this price, often with leather, heated at front and looks good. Seats are more versatile as can be removed, slid back and forth individually and have integrated child seats (major bonus).
Reliability seems a bit weak, no sliding doors and no sunroof at this price.
We have 3 kids (4,2,6mths) and want all three accross the middle row. Most likely used in 6 seater configuration to make some boot space for buggy and stuff.
Anyone of experience on these 2 cars or had to decide between them?
I would love a frv (had one in the past) but autos not on our budget. No multiplas pls. Can't abide the interior let alone exterior. No vr6 sharan - would love it but too thirsty. Ruled out the grandis, Odessy and siniar as they have bench feats in the middle so not good for 3 child seats. Not keen on French cars-have been bury badly by Renault (worst carbive had out of many).

Having worked in a VW dealership, Sharans are s
t!
thrown together in Spain between siestas.
Same goes for the Alhmbra and Merc V230.
Previa is far better IMHO
Odyssey is petrol only and is OK as long as you get the one with the infight refueling
SWMBO has a 2.2 odyssey for years, did 100k+ in it and it NEVER missed a beat.

At that price you'll be looking at a 2nd generation Previa, which is front wheel drive (based on the Camry platform), not the original front/mid-engined rear wheel drive version.
The Previa will give you more space and reliability. You only need to see where the Sharan always sits in the JD Power surveys to know that they're best avoided.
