I honestly couldn't quite believe this when I first heard it.

Apparantly to replace a turbo on the TDV8 RR Sport you have to remove the whole damn body from the chassis!!

Surely that could've been designed better? eek

I'm sure judicious use of a plasma cutter on the inner wing would be much quicker.
Chop out an access hatch, swap turbos, pop rivet hatch back in place, liberally coat in underseal, job done.
Modern cars really are over 'designed'.

Nothing new. The disco 3 needed a body off for the same job.

That's so you can put a Disco 3 body on at the same time, which is what the car actually is. Then you can keep the RRS body for footballer weddings, and cruisin in da hood.

What do you expect with a car that was designed for people with more money than sense!?

D3 == RRS !

TBH, bodyoff isn't that hard/difficult on the seperate chassis platforms

Taking the body off isn't a problem

Putting it back on is a bit silly

You could put something far more fun on

It doesn't, my brother just removed an entire 2.7 engine from a Disco 3 on my driveway without taking the body off. Once the radiator is removed there's plenty of room to move the engine to the front and use a crane to remove it.

We removed the engine over the weekend on the driveway and it took around 12 hours in total. The most difficult part was actually removing the gearbox!

I wouldn't be surprised if it's also possible to do it with the RR Sport.

Surely the 2.7 is not a TDV8 though?

Similar thing with the VW Touareg. Engine, drive train and all suspension down to change a water pump. Mega bill for a service item.

Chances are that the TT V8 is a bit bigger. And I wouldn't be surprised if removing the body is actually quite easy if you have the lifting equipment - it'll have been designed with that in mind I expect.
