Cost of converting double garage from singles to double door
Discussion
Nice electric door will probably come in for under £2k but it's very likely that the support above the doors will be two separate lintels supported by the central pillar in which case you'd need to take them out as you remove the pillar and replace them with a single RSJ. That's going to add a fair bit to the job.
Pretty much the only advantage of single doors is cosmetic.

Did this at my old place. Removed central pillar, new fabricated lintel, fitted double electric roller door. The lintel was fabricated as standard sizes were too short. Came in just under 3.5k. Probably didn't add any value to my house but saved my wing mirrors for the few years we had it.

So not too different from getting two doors then, I was quoted about £3k for two roller shutters. Something to think about then, although I quite like having seperate doors as there is only a car in one side so don't need the whole space opened up.Edited by worsy on Sunday 27th January 21:05
