Would be quite easy to prove she wasn't driving.

Is there a minimum age to be the registered keeper of a vehicle? If not, would it be a fraud of some sort in registering in the child's name?

I don't think so.

This is interesting indeed!

There is no age restriction on a V5 form I'm aware of and a child under the age of 12 cannot be prosecuted I believe.

Looking forward to seeing what the theoretical outcome of this is!

Cannot see how this is the case, at what point has anyone lied?

Nothing definitive.

I wonder what insurance would say - you would need to disclose who the RK was of the car you were trying to insure (it can be different names); I wonder if they would decline to insure if that was a minor.

I tend to agree this is a serious risk. I think the CPS would see it as a very cynical attempt to try and avoid penalty points and would get the police to investigate. Police would see he's the only one on insurance database. Mags Court would hate it. Crown Court Judge would really hate it.....Tricky to prove that was his intent - but court would say why else ywoudl you do it??

No one has lied - its about what he was attempting to achieve by doing it....

How about gifting the daughter the car so that it falls out of his estate for inherirtance tax purposes, after seven years?

Funny you should say that.....I can say no more,,,

but the v5 states that being the registered keepoer is not proof of ownership so it would take more than putting their name on the v5..

She can own the car without being the registered keeper.

Good point on one of the threads...

If you wished to insure yourself for the vehicle, then there needs to be a link betwix the named insured on the insurance cert and V5 RK to obtain the Cert for driving said car - so a black rat says. So that wouldn't work... unless RK was over 17.

...You might say that you can use 3rd part insurance (not your car), but then on most policies (not all), the car in question needs to have it's own policy - stumped there too!

Is this right?
