Will Porsche supply just the nut and bolt? Removing the nut to pop on the CTEK connector terminal. One side was fine the other incredibly stiff and has stripped the thread on the bolt when removing the nut.

I've temporarily popped on a hex head bolt and nyloc nut I had handy but would prefer to get the correct fixing. Read an American post that said these aren't available and you have to buy the whole cable and terminal clamp etc.

Guess I'll find out when I call the OPC in the morning.

Not sure if they are suppose to come off totally but just enough just to loosen them.

To get the CTEK "O" ring to fit just chop them into a "C" connector and slide them in. That's what I did.

Did see those in Halfords afternoon. They'd probably work but if possible I'd prefer the genuine option if they're available.

Removing the nut wasn't a problem on my old car which had the identical fixing. I do appreciate that they are designed to be a little difficult to totally remove though.

Too right, it's a highly stressed, safety critical component, I imagine Porsche must have them forged out of very expensive high carbon steel to ensure their longevity. Definitely not worth risking it with an inferior quality item.

Exactly!

If I have to explain, there are a couple of reasons - I'd prefer the stainless Porsche item if I can get one to the zinc plated Halfords item. You'd also have difficulty getting a socket or spanner on the nut that comes with the Halfords piece as it's too shallow.

My questions was simply, do Porsche sell them?

Doubtless you'd get one from Porsch-Apart, but it mightn't be new enough.... smile

Lol... the "exactly!" was sarcasm.

Given the shape of the clamp, the nut sioplied with the Halfords item isn't ideal because it's much more shallow - I doubt it would allow easy access via socket or spanner as it'd foul against the clamp. The Porsche item is more a threaded, hexagonal sleeve because of this.

I agree it was a silly question. I should have just called Porsche smile

They don't supply the nut/bolt separately and would require 70 of my pounds for a new positive cable! I'll stick to my hex bolt and nyloc nut fix which.

Think you can delete the first post which removes the whole thread, might be wrong though.

Serious answer now we've all had our fun... (harsh and cruel place the Porsche forum)!

My (tongue-in-cheek)suggestion earlier about Porsch-Apart may, in fact, be the perfect answer if Porsche themselves don't sell the part you want. They're Porsche breakers / menders / parts suppliers (and probably a lot more I haven't mentioned) and genuinely good guys. They may well have a battery clip nut/bolt for pennies. Sure they'd post it out to you too.

The nut isn't really designed to be removed from the bolt, just loosened and retightened. With that in mind they may not have the part.

Lol it's fine as it is. Might try getting a small spacer to bring the nut out a tad! wink
