How much do you think it would cost to have a 450 1997 Chimaera fully restored? From the ground up to original spec? I appreciate prices are different depending on location etc but a rough guide or direction to someone who may be able to help would be greatly appreciated.

I love my car and have not had the change to use her recently and I have noticed she is in need of TLC. So I'm thinking why not go the distance and make her perfect again.

Depends what you mean by full restoration. I know I spent £5.5k for a body off outrigger replacement and chassis treatment, new shocks, wishbones, alarm, a spot of fibre glass work, engine mounts and a few bits of electrical work. I then spent the best part of £1k to get the diff removed, refurbished and refitted. Last year I spent £1.5k to get the electrics sorted, new fuse box and partial re-loom. I also spent £1.7k to get a complete new roof, carpets, seats and interior refurb. I plan on getting a respray this year, so that's £2.5k at least.

In summary if you're looking at chassis, interior, exterior and a possible diff/transmission rebuilds I would think an absolute minimum of £10k even accounting for some economies of scale when the body is off.

Depending how far you want to go an considering labour if your
Paying someone else to do it you could easily sink 20k into a restoration.

Have a chat with someone like dom mooney at midland classic restorations. They are familiar with tvrs

Thank you for your responses. It's not to far out of reach so rather then sell her I will store her away until I have saved the cash.
