Hi Chaps,
My neighbour is currently renting, does anyone know how I might find out who the lettings agent are?

I (now) know who owns the property from the land registry, but a phone book search for that name/address turns up a blank?! - Anyone know a better search to use for that too?

Many thanks in advance

Erm, ask him? biggrin

Assuming you are not on good terms with him, hook out the Yellow Pages, and start dialling.

um, yes, asking is not an option...
I've gone though all the online sites I can think of, but I'm leaning towards just driving round to the owners house (no I don't know them).
My reasoning for going via the lettings agent is more to follow a proper route, rather than just obtaining their details from the land registry!

Try a search via sites like Rightmove or Zoopla etc. etc.,

As Wings says, could go on to Rightmove and put your postcode in and do a search. You might need to check the let agreed box to see if it comes up.

Did they definitely use a letting agent? The landlord may have found the tenants himself, or they could have just used the letting agent to find the tenants and manage it themselves?

They definitely used an agent, it's coming up to 2 years (in July), no-one has ever seen the owner (ever), and I can't find any trace of the agent.
I might phone around random local agents and ask?
Rightmove and Zoopla are a blank - I've done all the obvious searches frown

Write to them with a polite note? (registered delivery - then you know if they do live there or not)

Under UK legislation a Deposit taken from a tenant/s by a landlord/agent, needs to be protected under the Tenancy Deposit Scheme.

The link that I have posted below explains how a tenant (or the OP) may check to see if a Deposit is protected, that information may also disclose the person, landlord or agent that protected the Deposit.

Is the rental property in the RG6 or RG10 areas of Reading?

But that doesn't give a third party like the OP access to the landlords/letting agent details.

If you have the owners address how about go and knock on their door? Or send a recorded letter? I had a need to do this years back. I wrote a letter with my contact details, 2-3 days later they rang me and I offered to go around to them to discuss the problems. All were sorted fairly quickly.

If you want to PM me the rented address I may be able to find out for you via a letting agents information gathering website.

RG6.
is that significant?!!

I'm not sure I have enough info to complete the rest of that form (and not sure what info it'll give me.

I didn't get a chance today, but I think I'll go for the knock on their door approach... the worst they can do is tell me to f*** off, then I'm no worse off than before. lol

Say to neighbour that youre looking to let your place out & ask who they have used,as they "will know the local market"

Urm, yeah, we're not on talking terms... which is closely linked to the reason for this thread.

Went round to the house today, there was a young eastern European girl in there, not quite the ethnicity I was expecting.
She did however tell us that the guy was still the owner but she does everything through the agency... and when we asked who the agency was, she told us smile

So I'll be in contact with them tomorrow, think it's highly likely that he's using the same agent for both houses.

You become a long established member of a car forum and then just maybe, a fellow poster will help out.
