BMW European Delivery

Over on the other BMW forums I always enjoy the threads where rich Yanks pick up their new BMWs from BMW Welt, drive them around on proper roads with proper corners for a few days before dropping them off and then waiting for their car to show up in USA. It does look rather good fun. Is it only available to the Yanks? As we could actually pick our cars up and drive then home from Germany it seems daft to not give this option to European buyers.

+1 with bells on... http://www.bmw-welt.com/en/automobile_delivery/ind... says US, Canada, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Belgium & Italy... and my UK delivery date having been estimated as my birthday – the exact day I'm going on a tour of the factory – REALLY didn't help! I can only assume it's something to do with tax treaties or some anomaly like that

Did you ask your dealer about that?
I know for a fact that some customers from other countries collected their cars at the BMW Welt.

Thanks for following up. No joy with the dealer. Am also trying one other contact, but not holding out much hope at the moment.

Is available for some countries, but the UK is currently not one of them according to this, see bottom of the page.

Factory collection is available for uk customers of Porsche & Mercedes. Why not BMW?

very predictable. I wonder why other German manufacturers can offer factory collection but not BMW?

It's also cheaper to do ED than it is to have the car dealer delivered. The saving the Americans make pays for the air fare and subsequent holiday often!
