Digital Rev delivery times...
Discussion
Anybody have any experience of lead times with these guys?
Received my dispatch notification this morning, suggesting that they'd be delivering by the 8th but unfortunately, the job I'm using the kit for starts on the 8th!
Some reading I'd done seemed to suggest that they operated a warehouse in the UK but this seems to be coming from HK...Praying that they're just covering themselves and that things typically arrive sooner.

Depends where you are in the UK as to delivery times. Myself and a friend at work have both ordered from DigitalRev, he gets his delivered to our work address (south Surrey) and I get mine delivered to my home address (North Hampshire). 26 miles apart, 2-3 days difference in delivery times! If you are in London area or just outside and it comes in direct from HK to Heathrow then you will get it very quickly (HK-Heathrow-Out for delivery), otherwise you may not be so lucky (mine was HK-Cologne-East Midlands-Southampton-Out for delivery). It's never been later than the quoted 5 days though.
I just checked the tracking and it's in bloody Leipzig of all places!
I hope that means an overnight trip by plane to Scotland rather than a truck or LHR to truck to Scotland (I'm in Glasgow).
In fairness, they've quoted 'by Monday' on the despatch note. I'm just praying its 'before Monday' so I can use it on a job!

Thats the DHL hub I think. From there it came straight to the DHL place at East Midlands Airport (which I live near...which also means 10-15min drive to Donnington Park! woo!). So I guess find out where the nearest DHL air freight place is?I hope that means an overnight trip by plane to Scotland rather than a truck or LHR to truck to Scotland (I'm in Glasgow).

As you say, from Leipzig, it arrived at East Midlands very early this morning and was in Edinburgh by the time I woke up. After breakfast it was in Glasgow and as of now, its in a delivery van headed my way...
And to top it all off, I've got to leave for a bloody meeting soon! Doh!
I'm impressed!

don't DR claim they will pay any customs charges if you incur them ?
Only if you buy from their site - if you buy from their eBay store, their terms do state that you're liable for any potential customs charges - that's why their site is a tiny bit more than their ebay shop.(I bought through their site and my 7D did arrive with a "value" of £50 though! so that's the risk they take).

Do you still get a UK warranty with stuff bought from Digital Rev?
Not sure about other brands but IIRC Canon require a VAT invoice to claim warranty.Certainly from me, they've been pretty faultless from ordering, through delivery into warranty claims.

A week in and my order still isn't with me. DHL say customs have it and I just have to wait. Bet I get a fisting on duty.
Nick
Well I've just got off the phone to DHL and they have confirmed Customs have taken the parcel for inspection and it takes as long as it takes. They suggested to monitor the tracking service but not chase them up again until 30 days had elapsed. Bit of an arse really as I bought a camera, lens and spare battery to shoot three freinds weddings. One was saturday just gone and the others are the end of this month beginning of next. Sod's law it turns up the day after the last wedding!Nick

I ordered a Fuji X10 from DigiRev on Saturday and just had a call from DHL that they tried to deliver. First time I have used them and must say I have been most impressed, their comms was great. We'll see if I get hit with any duty but I have a mail from DigiRev saying the price was all inclusive.
