I need to get the driver's door card off to replace the lighter, grease the runners, check the mirror wiring and generally have a poke around. I've done lots of google searching but all I can find is Chimaera stuff...

I've taken the speaker out, I've undone the nut between the speaker and the hinge, I've undone the nut just behind the speaker, but it still seems to be bolted in about halfway along the door - there's no way my arms can reach that far back! Am I missing something...? Can it be undone from anywhere else? Is there anything else holding it in place?

Roll on end of the month when I can get The Bible ordered! Ha!

Cheers all! smile

It's in there alright. I find the easiest way is to drop a ratchet into the middle of the door yikes then get your arm in and pick it up from inside and undo the last nut. You will scratch your arm to buggery but it's the only access to it.

And replace the nuts with wing nuts so you dont have to mess around with a ratchet in there next time.

Great tip on the wing nuts, there!

For anyone new searching this, there's a knack... Instead of angling your arm at where the nut IS, aim your hand to the top of the door to get enough 'reach', to be able to get your elbow in, then drop your arm down to get to the nut. You also need to remove the ashtray as there's a Phillips-head screw behind it.

All mine were finger tight so I was lucky not to have to deal with ratchets and spanners in there.

Silicon grease is best for rubber parts as it does not attack the rubber like other greases can. Spray silicon is easy to use and quick but will not last that long before it washes off. Try the likes of plumbing silicon grease.

BTW.. there is another nut up by the mirror wink take care when putting this one back.. if your using a ring spanner it can get caught on the stud as it draws through the nut to the point where you can't get it off smile

confused There are only three nuts on the Griff door skin and they're all towards the bottom? All the upper fixings on mine are screws through the door card.

Does this help?

Extreme left is a screw underneath the reflector, top right is a screw behind the ashtray, the other 3 are captive bolts.
