DVLA, SORN, CoD, ATF, and the law

Does anyone have any knowledge of scrapping a vehicle that they have dismantled themselves?
In a nutshell, I've got an old 1989 Range Rover which was basically beyond repair so I stripped it for parts which I then sold on eBay.
The last part (Engine & Drivetrain) has just been sold and the guy didn't want the VIN or V5 paperwork for it...
So I'm now left with a small box of bits, a vin plate, a reg plate, a V5 document and a SORN document.
I really don't want to have to keep on declaring a box of bits in the shed as SORN for the rest of my days, so is it even possible to get a some sort of official Certificate of Destruction (CoD) from a garage without them seeing the car?! (I've got photos of the dismantling process to be fair which might help?!?)
Has anyone been through this before? Any advice?

You might be able to take it to a normal scrap yard and show them the VIN, documents and any other parts you have and get it scrapped; after all when it comes to officially scrapping a car its the VIN and the documentation that are the important parts from a legal point of view I'd have thought - just speculation mind.
Seems quite clear on the .gov website:
If you’ve broken up the vehicle yourself
If you’ve broken up the vehicle yourself you must make a SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) or continue to tax the vehicle.
You’ll have to make a SORN every year until you’ve taken it to an ATF or told DVLA you no longer have it.
Tell DVLA by completing section 3 of your V5C vehicle registration certificate (the ‘Notification of sale or transfer’ section), or write a letter to DVLA using the address below, explaining that you no longer have the vehicle.

1989 is first generation with the ladder chassis. That's what the VIN relates to, not the body panels. So do you still have it? If so, weigh it in at an ATF and send off the completed and signed V5C/3 to DVLA. If not, what happened to it? The last part (Engine & Drivetrain) has just been sold and the guy didn't want the VIN or V5 paperwork for it...

That box no longer exists on a v5, hence the OP's enquiry. You could just write to the DVLA stating that a nice Lithuanian man bought the car for export. A letter then comes back saying that you are no longer the registered keeper.
Why not write to DVLA explaining destruction and send V5 under ther lawe as at Reg 17

(b)Northern Ireland,.

I cut it up into small manageable parts and took it all to the scrap yard. I kept the vin at the time because I was planning on putting all the other parts into a kit car but it never happened.M4cruiser said:

Good luck with that. Take the VIN plate and V5 to your local scrap yard, with proof of identification and ask them to issue a certificate of destruction. Destroy the VIN plate (metal scissors should do the trick) and leave the log boog for them to send away with the rest at the end of the week. Crafty1980 said:

I've done this a few times (Imps tend to rust and I take everything off before cutting the shell up with the big angle grinder). The last time it was on one of the new V5C documents with no "scrapped" tick box, so I took the form to the Bristol DVLA office, told the chap behind the counter and he took the form and wroted "SCRAPPED" across the back in big letters and told me he'd send it to Swansea for me.A few weeks later I got the letter saying I was no longer responsible etc.
