Hi all,
Thought I'd show you my eta.
Some parts of this Might not make sense as bit have been cut from various sources!
Right, as I got her (about 3 years ago):
98,000 miles with history and recent bills.
Waxolyed
Mods were minor, being these trx's, tinting and it was lowered on Apex springs.
I have the original springs and wheels with grandad spec wheelplates and radio just in case it all needs to go back to original spec.

It rubbed even under light acceleration (tyres were 230mm wide!) so these had to come off, even though he'd spent a huge amount of money on the spray job:

..so she now had to sit on the old rims..tasty:

..a little better perhaps:

Anyhoo, I managed to hunt down these beasties for £110 with good tread:

but these were 55 prof on the rear and a only 50 on the front..which lead to me taking the sump tap straight off..happy days:

So a new set of tyres later:

The gear selector cable snapped, so I fitted a new one,
Also, there were a few scuffs and dints and dodge rear paintjob plus a little rot on the arches and doors so she went in for bodywork, wings, sills, rear quarters and the boot which needed to be sanded back to the metal.

Here we go, before, during and after pictures, I'll let them do the talking:

The work:

After:

Few pics with new RC090's

She just recently went in to have the bonnet and roof done as these weren't done with the original spray.
All done now and final pics taken before and at DC13

Needs, a couple new studs in exhaust mani and prob some new shocks in the future,
Cheers all

Great car
The 525e was an economy model? I think they had a restricted inlet manifold or the cylinder head from the 2.0 six pot? I think early 30's MPG was possible from them which was very good 30 years ago from a 2.5 six cylinder.
It was a high torque, low revs (4500 rpm red-line I think), all auto model. Built for economy and relaxed cruising and pretty rare. Lovely car OP.

I have no idea what the survival rates of the different models are, but they were certainly pretty rare when they were new. I love the E28, there's just something so 'right' about how they look, yet at the time they were considered a bit of an ugly duckling by many. I owned several, the highlight of which was a white, manual M535i. It's a shame about the rust that so many succombed to, as they were screwed together incredibly well, not a rattle or a squeak to be heard.

Got a very late 88 F reg Cosmos Blue one gathering dust in the garage, totally rust free, could just do with a little paint to sort a few dents and scratches..... Most caused by it being in the garage!
Guess I need to do something with it... *sigh*
Mrs hates it with a passion

Again, very nice Guess I need to do something with it... *sigh*

What model is it?
Thanks for the positive comments guys. The paintwork was done by a bloke called Martin who lives just off the A47. Proper paint too. I think the wheels can sometimes look slightly oversized and other times perfect. I think a good compromise would be 16" M5 alloys.
Most etas have been killed off as the block is used by the e30 crew to make stroker units with 325i heads (180-200bhp with the torque of the eta - circa 171lb ft).
How many left quote 114 of this particular model on the road, down from 2800 units in 2001.
She is very lazy with 80 mph at a little over 2k revs and returns around 30 mpg. Will do the 60 run in around 10 seconds though so not too slow!
The rev limit as mentioned above is a little wearing..
