Hi Richard,
Thanks are due to Steve J, he found the supplier back in May 2010
My next job is to remove mine to replace the metal mounting strips, the rubbers are starting to come away at the front inboard ends.
Whilst they're off, I'll take a picture, post some dimensios & try to identify the exact profile.
It won't be today though, somebody has borrowed my small angle grinder & those screws are a bit reluctant to come out after 26 years.

Hi Glen, when I decided to refit the bumpers on mine I also just ground the screws out. I then found the steel strips were so corroded that they wouldn't come out. I finished up bashing the back of the strips and shaking the metal out in flakes! I cleaned the inside with a steel strip. I then went to a local guy and had some strips cut off some stainless offcuts. I inserted the strips then marked through with a felt tip and pre-drilled holes in the strip and used some big stainless self tappers. Hopefully that will outlast the car! I found I needed stainless thick enough to allow me to get some 'form' to the bumper first, thin stuff didn't hold the ends down well enough. I have also found that black sikaflex will bond to it OK and that you can work the sikaflex with a finger dipped in water/washing up liquid to sort out any rough edges at the ends.
Now I need to follow Steve's info and go to the nearest airport and sneak......maybe not?

They will polish up well with a bit of elbow grease.

Hi Stevie,
OF COURSE! So that's where I've seen it before.....
I thought it was somehow familiar
Hope your S is still in fine fettle & that exhaust is quiet as always
Richard, thanks for the info.
I did read on a thread here some time ago that a carpet edging plate is just the job for a backing reinforcement strip. I'm sure I'll find something to suit.
Thanks for the link Joe

Bottom one is the "real thing" while top one is a sample from Phoenix Trim... close but no cigar !

Polymax 6009690 looks possible, although 6001109 looks more like the profile but far too big.

Hi Phill,
The link doesn’t work but I’ve had a look on the Pheonix Trim site/catalogue, I think this’ll be close enough for me, dont suppose you have the product code do ya?
If I were a betting man i’d Say it was the ‘D’ fender in the marine section 51mm x 35mm? I wouldn’t bet my life on it that’s for sure! Only issue I can for see is the fact it comes on an 18m roll
