I'm having a clear out and have pretty much every Evo mag from the last 6 or 7 years boxed up in the loft. Are they worth anything or should I just chuck them in a skip? I guess postage will be a fortune so someone would have to collect them if they did want to buy them, has anyone sold a job lot of old magazines on eBay before or is it not worth the hassle?

I don't have time to split and sell them individually really so that's not an option, unless they sell for £5 each in which case I'd find the time somehow!

No.

I had a load and tried to sell them a while back and got no interest so I binned them.

They rarely have any value... unless someone really wants them.

Mags usually go free to the first person who will collect, or a nominal £20 in a charity pot.

I have around 170 issues of TopGear that the other half is nagging me to get rid of.

List each one separately on Ebay with a good description of the articles and cars tested. You'll get a fiver each.

This I'm afraid.

I gave mine to the local dentist, he was dead chuffed.

Also fun every 6 months to sit in the waiting room having a read through your own back issues.

I think this does work as there are guys on ebay with thousands of mags for sale. I think its the job lots of magazines that dont make any money. I like buying the old ones and will pay £5 each if its got something in I want to read.

Have often wondered if a stand at various car shows would be a good way of getting rid of old mags.

I'm after issue 1 and 2 as they are missing from my collection, and although I have very little interest in whats actually in the magazine it bothers me in an OCD type way. paperbag

What will happen is you'll sell some at a fiver each & be left with the remaining 90% after spending several days taking photos & listing.

I'd do a car boot & try to sell 3 for £5 or similar - I've bought a few magazines like this (mainly Nat Geo & old "Car").

I unloaded mine to a fellow Pistonheader who kindly gave me a couple of nice bottles of wine.

Now I donate them to my pipe-bending F1 exhaust building mate and his colleagues.

In theory, if they're worth a fiver, I just recycled about £500. Still, given the time it takes to list each mag properly, then post, I think even if I did get a fiver each, I'd bin them. Just a shame I managed to mildly damage my car in the process. Stupid Japanese plastics.

Nor mine. I've got boxes of Autocar and Motor going back to the 50s. I tried a few listings on Ebay and got no interest.

Hud onto them if you can as in years to come they mostly all will be replaced by electronic versions. Think about all the Mag's that have gone, that said I have binned loads of Auto Expresses lately biggrin

I've often wondered this too as I have every issue going back to 2002 sometime - can't bring myself to throw them out or stop the subscription for some reason haha

Mine went in the recycling a fortnight ago. When you add up the cost it's kinda depressing!

Bin them. And switch to digital subscription. Or maybe not. Digital subscription means that they own your copies and can do whatever they like with your archive. Like they did last month.
