Ordered my new car at the end of Nov. The dealer now says that Skoda are quoting no build dates at all for TDI VRS's.

Do they have supply issue or is the dealer just playing silly buggers to hid the fact they have been slow processing the order.

Coming from BMW who were super efficient last time I'm not happy!

Any thought?

Probably about right to be honest. Wouldn't expect to see it until March at the earliest.

Aparently skoda uk have told dealers to quote 18 to 20 weeks and they won't put the order on if the dealer is over quota. All of which seems to mean a car ordered late nov may well not be delivered until june or july.
Not impressed. .....

I'd be tempted to talk to other dealers and see if they have spare allocation. a wait of seven months for that car is silly. Have you gone crazy with options?

It would appear your dealer has outsold his quota so won't be able to order it until January, then there is a 5 month waiting list as the VRS is selling at pretty much twice the rate Skoda anticipated.

Deerfoot, generally with Skoda options don't make a difference, the usual hold ups are engines and gearbox combos.

And Yeti panoramic glass roofs initially I remember?

Even so, it appears the OP's dealer has failed to tell the OP that they were unable to actually order the car when he placed his order. If this is the case I'd be pretty annoyed.

Yep forgot about that! Pano roof on Yeti did add to lead times back in 2010, but that is about the only thing I can think of in 4 years with Skoda.

Certainly should, if we've run out of quota we tell the customer the Skoda lead time then add the number of months until we have quota again. Most customers are happy to wait, and they are also happier customers as they haven't been lied to and have a realistic expectancy for delivery.

Is the situation similar for the petrol version?

Any deals over and above the advertised cheap finance and free servicing?

As said above - Skoda are selling so many more than they anticipated.
No requirements to offer discounts and "offers" on a vehicle already shifting at over its expected rate.

Ordered a 2.0d elegance octavia back in August 2013 just contacted by the dealer to say it has a build date of week two in jan. No options or extras, very frustrating timescale.

Out of interest what did you spec? We ordered our Octavia VRS TSi Manual Estate end of September (added Basic Cruise, Sat Nav, Sunset glass)and took delivery mid December about 10ish weeks in all.

OP here!

The car is fairly well specced up. Glass roof, sunset glass, posh sat nav, Meteor grey etc.
None of which was advised to add to the leadtime.
My real issue is the lack of clarity from the dealer who is now getting shirty that Skoda UK have told me about the quotas.

I work in manufacturing and fully understand the issues of supply and demand. It would be nice to be to fully equiped with the facts before placing the order.

Due to the popularity of the VRS Skoda have now taken it off the 0% finance and repalced it wit ha 2.9% APR finance and the free servicing has been dropped across the entire range.
I'd be surprised if there was much more than a set of mats of some fuel over the current offer, from most dealers unless they are really struggling.

You dealer really should have explained the quota system or at order encorporated the months untill they had quota into the lead time they gave you, i.e 2 month until quota plus 5 month lead time, your car will be 7 months Sir. That is how we do it.

I agree clarity would have helped ease the frustration greatly.

My order has been accepted by the factory so I have the magic SLI (?) number now but the car is at status 0 As I understand this means they have no Idea when they will build it. Skoda Uk were very pleasent about it but could offer no insight other than flannel. It makes no sense that there is that little vision in the supply chain as to when they have parts and a slot to begin the build.
I have heard various comments that VAG are just like that but it really is not good customer service.

I guess I just have to wait. It is a shame because I have no doubt it will be great when it comes

I ordered a petrol VRS estate on the 30/12/13 and was advised of an 18 week lead time.

Looking at the paperwork, the order to skoda from the dealer requests the car for early March, but the dealers estimate to me would be early May. Everything I've seen online points towards it being later rather than earlier, but I'll be pretty cross if it's past the 5 month period.

Looking forward to getting it though. Just hope given the order times that there aren't suddenly going to be a glut of them all over the place!

Ordered mine via Lex in early November. Originally quoted mid-Feb delivery, it's gone backwards twice now and is currently expected mid-March.

Yes SLI is the ordering/stock system. Until the car gets a predicted build week it will be in status 0, once it has a build week it'll go to status 10 once the week is confirmed it'll be status 20. Status 20 usually happens a few weeks to a month before build.

Unfortunately/fortunately depending how you see it, VAG are one of the only brands to have really benefitted from the economic downturn of the last few years and sales have rocketed, and they really don't have the infrastructure to cope, and this is particularly prevalent with the VRS as I previously mentioned it's selling at almost double the predicted rate.

Take it from me it really is a cracking car, having spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel of the petrol one, I've no reason to doubt the diesel won't be just as good.

Excusing my ignorance of the system. Does the fact that the factory has issued to SLI number mean that I am at least past he dealer quota hold up?
I can live with over demand creating delays. Not so happy about mixed info form suk. It sounds like the girl who told me about quotas got in trouble for telling me. The chap who called me back more or less told me there was no such thing and just waffled.
