Restaurants near Green Park?
Discussion
Morning all,
I'm heading down into London this afternoon to go on a tour of a disused underground station (Down Street). Afterwards (about 6pm) I'm meeting my parents' for dinner. Has anyone got any suggestions? I don't know the Park Lane/Mayfair area of London very well.
We're not after a long 3 course meal (I have to be back at home for 8.30) and aren't at all fussy with our food, but don't want to eat in a chain restaurant. Anything within a 5 minute walk of Green Park station would be perfect.
Any suggestions?

Try Automat american brasserie - good choice, fairly simply, reasonably priced and you'll be out in good time.

How did you manage to get a tour of Down Street?
Eating wise you have Henry's which from memory is about 25m from Green Park tube. Website here and if you sign up you get 20% off food bill

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll bring details of them both with me and see which gets the most votes!
A friend of a friend of my Father runs the tours. He caught wind that my Father was interested in historic buildings so invited us along. Thankfully the interest runs in the family so I'm very excited about going!

Le Boudin Blanc in Shepherds Market is a great place to go for dinner, your parents would love it. Really good French brasseries that has been there for years. They do the best French Onion soupe I've ever head in this country...the Moules are also excellent. Steak/Frites is also very nice.

Simple food, great service and authentic.
There are some other restaurants in Shepherds Market too if you want somewhere low key....most of the restaurants in the rest of Mayfair are more upmarket/flash.

The tapas place el pirata almost opposite? Down st is right next to a tiny shop isn't it? Murano if you are not price-sensitive.
Your knowedge of fine restaurants is awesome, but I sense the OP wants a modest place to spend no more than a couple hours in.Do you like Lebanese food? A coupe of decent restaurants in that area:
Fakhreldine right near Green Park station, and Al Hamra in Shepherds Market to name a couple.

More details of tour would be nice.
Thanks for the restaurant suggestion. We passed Henry's on the walk from Green Park to Down Street and everyone liked thr look of it. 3 mushroom risottos, 1 thai curry and 1 prawn, chilli and tomato pasta went down very well! Pricing was a lot cheaper than other London restaurants too.The tour was amazing, opened in 1907 and closed in the 30s, it was then turned into what was essentially the control centre for the train network during the war. It is believed that Churchill used it on a number of occasions.
Because of the extensive renovation work that took place to convert it most of the typical underground facade has been either removed or covered.
What made it particularly interesting was the plans we were provided with which showed its war time layout - a little on the cramped side!
Even after almost 70 years, the toilets still smelled of p**s!
Picture taking is limited and our guide insisted that none of our photos make it onto the internet (there are plenty of other photos online if you Google the station though).

I'm pretty sure Fakhreldine has closed down.
Al Hamra is good.
