I've searched but can't seem to find the correct torque for the rocker cover bolts.

Closest I've found using the search function is in the wedge section which states 8 lb/ft. This seems a bit low to me.

Old rover V8s used screws. 8lb is more than enough. Overtightening can lead to leaks

Thanks, the wedge info was correct then, still a Rover V8 of course. My torque wrench doesn't go that low (starts at 20Nm / 14.8 lbft) so it really is just a nip.

It surprises me because I've read advice that oil leaks from them because they are often not re-tightened at services. More likely over-tightened.

Depends on gasket type ~ rubber & cork have different requirements wink

The rubber gaskets have a steel spacer at each fixing so the tightening torque has no effect on seal compression. Just a good nip.

Warning the spacer has a habit of falling out when fitting or removing the cover. Guess where it falls? And NO, it never falls on the floor.

I intend to get the rubber type with the steel spacer in it, so I'll be careful.
