Really hoping someone might be able to help me out smile

I've got a mate who has lived in West Lothian/Lothian/West Coast most of his live, but just wants out of the area completely. He has been offered a swap for a suitable property in Cowdenbeath, but neither him nor myself know the area at all, or anyone from the area nowadays.

Any thing he should know about before he considers the move?

Thanks

I'd agree with that. I guess it depends on where he currently is but a quick look around will be enough to probably decide against. Stock cars are a good laugh though.

From working refreshing the IT in Benefits Agency office the 90's it wasn't a great place then & I suspect it hasn't got any better.

My great aunt and uncle lived there for the best part of 50 years - never had an issue.

It's like anywhere, has better areas and not so better areas.

Good for commuting what with the A92 and a direct rail link to Ediburgh, shops and high street is a bit 1980's but Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline are only 10 minutes away.

Good honest working folks come from the Beef, if you were born clutching a silver spoon and think anybody on less than 50k a year is scum.... probably not the place for you.

It's mining country, people are down to earth and yell it as it is.

Might take him a while to adjust to the local dialect though, ken... ben the hoose an that like.

As above. It does have its rough areas. I have a lot of mates from there and to be honnest they're about as genuine as you get.

Do you know the street where he would be?

AGK, is it okay to PM you with the address rather than sticking it on here smile

And yes I am beginning to get the impression that like everywhere in Scotland, and Britain, it has it's good and bad areas.

I live right next to Cowden, I can't even begin to think why anyone would want to move there? There is virtually nothing there. I should add that my village is no better.

Cooden effin gelly

My mates just moved to the new houses on the way out of Cowdenbeath. Once in his scheme it could be anywhere I suppose. But on the whole it's a pretty "raj" place!
