Hi does anyone know where or what sort of glycerine / water mix you would put in the above system?

a manual describes the fluid here but it is obviously rather old:

From memory,I used 30% Glycerine (glycerol) in Distilled or De-ionised water in my Alvis Speed 20.
Needless to say the whole system leaked constantly and I could never tell the difference between soft and hard settings.
What car is this for?

Best of luck.

Excuse my ignorance but is there any variation in Glycerine - and where is a good place to get it from?

as for the car it's my fathers - just about been finished restored after 4 years - he originally owned it when he was around 21 and sold it about 4 years later only to track it down 50 years later and retrieve it from Porto Rico ! - can you guess what it is?

Glycerine available over the counter at your local pharmacy,or maybe in larger supermarkets.
It can be used medicinally but also for culinary purposes.
Is that an SS100? Excuse MY ignorance.

AC Six. 16/90?

I think the manufacturers of the SS100 chassis may have supplied it to AC too.

That bulge in the nearside bonnet is in just the right place for the pulley of an Arnott supercharger.

Correct - It was originally built without one then someone added one - but when my Dad first had the car it had been removed again (I think during the war as fuel shortages arose etc.) It is still without a supercharger today - too much strain on the old girl I think!
