What are the rules about lorries completely blocking a road to make a delivery?
In our village one of the pubs has no footpath on their side of the road, in order to deliver the lorry needs to only just allow enough space to get kegs off. Today the DHL driver just parked in the middle of the road and any traffic that wanted to get past had to put 2 wheels on the opposite side pavement.
When I stopped and suggested he was being a tad inconsiderate he went in to one, becoming confrontational and abusive.
Interestingly DHL have no contact details to suggest someone has a quiet word with the driver.

DHL and Yodel, no questions report to bib. Drive like p***ks and are to55ers. Nearly reported some clown in a Yodel van (swb brand new Transit) weaving the lanes and brake-testing other people. Pr1ck.

Jeez, so it's fair to presume that none of you have been a delivery driver in a >7.5T vehicle or lifted/moved a full beer geg then?

Hermes sounds far too much like an STD in my opinion.

As for blocking the road, it's a PIA, but they've got a job to do, same as everyone else.

It's like mumsnet every day here with people not liking where people park.

The road was not blocked as the OP managed to get past.

Maybe the thread title should read "Keyboard warrior has to negotiate a kerb while someone else is doing their job"

Yes, wilful obstruction is an offence under the Highways Act 1980

137 Penalty for wilful obstruction.

(1)If a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way wilfully obstructs the free passage along a highway he is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine not exceeding level 3 on the standard scale (£1,000).

It's as bad as all the disabled drivers that love to clog up loading bays etc when they can park in so many more places in towns than vehicles much larger than them who have a purpose to be there.

This moaning crap has really gone too far this time,
I`ll put up with moaning about traffic,cyclists,st/women drivers, crap cars and every other thing people see fit to moan about but there is a line and the OP has just crossed it.
He is delivering fking beer, what more valid reason is there for blocking a road?
None.
You selfish bd!

Its not DHL its Tradeteam who deliver to the pubs albeit part of the DHL group

http://www.tradeteam.com/contact.php

But suck it up, its not ideal but unloading numerous very heavy kegs and other associated pub ware isn't something you can do in limited space

Mmmmm....... It does seem a little bit out of order for the driver to become "confrontational and abusive" when all you've done is stop and said:

"I say old chap, I really hate to be a bother and fully appreciate that you have a job to do, delivering refreshing beverages for the good people of the village, but you do seem to have been a tad inconsiderate with the positioning of your fine delivery vehicle on this wonderful day!"

Of course, it might make more sense the driver becoming confrontational and abusive if your approach was more along the lines of:

"Fcensoredk Me!........Park in the middle of the fcensoredking road why don't you!.....You're blocking up the whole fcensoredking village you fcensoredking tcensoredt"

Out of the two versions, I wonder which is the closest to being the truth? scratchchin

OR, perhaps about the whitevan men, who park illegally on Yellows/double yellows and deny those with a right under the blue badge scheme to park in places as defined in the badge regulations because the badge holders have mobility/serious mobility problems.
