Evening all... Does anyone have any recommendations based on recent experience for a company to transport a car back from Germany to the UK ?

Looking for a company that is reliable, cost effective and fully insured, etc.

Anyone used a company recently that can be recommended ? Need the car transported, not driven.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Thanks. Am just debating whether to drive back or have the car transported. Only slight issue is tht the car is towards the East side of Germany, so likely to be a bit more pricey than the regular Düsseldorf / Stuttgart / Cologne side of Germany

Good topic Kananga. I've got the same problem and have now contacted Iguana for a quote for Frankfurt to Bucks in September.

Cheers... Am half tempted to get the car moved to Frankfurt to see if it is then more cost-effective. Just a bit annoying as it is ready for collection and I'm now getting impatient!!

I used Kentvale last September to transport my gt3 from Leipzig to silverstone. No hesitation in recommending them.

Try also Melv off this forum (964 Cup owner), his business is www.flyingbluedog.co.uk

If you do look at getting moved a bit more to the West first it might also be worth seeing if Bookatrack or similar have a spare slot in the truck when they're there to do their Spa / Nurburgring track days.

+1 - drive and get the hammer down! Nothing like doing 190mph down the autobahn talking on hands free while munching a sandwich and overtaking a police car!

The drive through Germany and into the southern-East side of Belgium through the Ardennes might be ok. But from there the 4hrs to Calais are as dull as they come. Not to mention the English bit after that...

I would also look into transport. Actually might use it to get the car to the Black Forest area and drive from there or directly to Switzerland/Austria/italy

Any ideas on costs for transporting from UK to Germany, just a rough indication

Bid of a broad question, highlands of Scotland to far depths of Bavaria is near 3000miles round trip, similar in miles to doing London to Sicily return, Kent to Aachen is nearer 500miles round trip, value & size of vehicle, enclosed or open transporters, multi car or individual, asap or done in a month, all makes a difference, so you could be in the £500 to £3500 area.

I paid just under £2k to get my Landrover Discovery repatriated on truck to Dover from Gdansk in Poland last winter when the intercooler had ice blockage and imploded. That is maybe 400km more than East Germany...

I used Cars - http://www.carseurope.net/

They are used by many of the premium auction houses and transport some pretty exotic stuff and they know their stuff
They transported this

from Dresden to Hereford for me. Excellent service, fully insured, great communication etc.
I opted for a covered, shared transporter which meant I had to wait a couple of weeks until they had a lorry going nearby (though they were massively busy at the time with Retromobile in Paris) but it was much cheaper
