Anyone heard of an artist by the name of G. Spence?

My Dad has had this piece of artwork (make of it what you will) for a long while now. He used to be the manager for a firm called Kamira (L&K Fertiliser at the time) and when they up'd sticks from Lincolnshire, he volunteered for redundancy as my Mother didn't want to move. Instead of transporting office stuff to their new location, they offered to let staff take anything they wanted, and my Dad took this piece of artwork as he was told it could be worth a few quid, this was back in the early 90's.
I have searched google for the name G. Spence of London and they year but hit no returns. Just want a bit more info on it really and if it's likely to be worth much (or anything).
I didn't know what would be the correct place to post this so I thought I'd try here.
The photo is very textured, and is raised. It feels like paint plaster (it has a small chip on it).
