Is there a list of top 10?

I'd always assumed central London but I was thinking and the Mcdonalds near Billingsgate might have them beat. It is sadly no more having been knocked down this year to build yet more flats.... no, actually a new Mcdonalds coming 2016 .. woohoo.

It must have been profitable if they can afford to have it knocked down and build a new one 1 year later.

Here it was in it's prime ( not prime beef of course )

https://www.google.com/maps/@51.507115,-0.008542,3...

It has a fantastic spot. Billingsgate open from 4am onwards, Canarywharf and major roads right on it's door step. No wonder it was 24/7.

But how was it on top 10 Mcdonalds takings before it got levelled? I'd say #1, but I am biased as I drive past it every day and miss it now it is gone.

I'm sort of hoping the new one might be 30 stories high. There was a guy on Pistonheads who took photo's of the shard being built, I might do the same here.

biggrin

When my wife was at uni, she worked in one in Windsor (I think) that was one of the busiest few in the UK. That was about 15 years ago, so not sure how the numbers have changed.

If I was betting which McD's in the UK serves most meals in the UK it would definitely not be that one. Billingsgate is open from 4am and dead by 8am. Canary Wharf is a ghost town at the weekends. There's no footfall at that site, it's in the middle of nowhere next to a flyover. Even if you work in Canary Wharf (as I used to for several years), you have to walk for quite a while and leave the estate to reach it.

I'd have thought a McD's in the City (eg. Liverpool Street) or in the West End (Oxford Street area) or something at Heathrow Airport is going to be up there as the winner.

Is there a McD's at Heathrow? That would get my vote

There used to be on Leicester Square that was probably one of the busiest.

What's the name of the PH'er who works for McDonalds HQ? Drives a C63 AMG estate iirc. He is bound to know the answer!

Many, many years ago I was a Manager for McDonalds in London. The title for busiest store was a weekly battle between myself on The Strand and Oxford Street. I had the advantage most times.
No idea where it would be now.

Id say the Strand must be pushing it, it's open very late and if you get there at 3/4am it's absolutely heaving. Add on the footfall from the station, plus the location - it's near Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square and theatres.

Outlet in the Olympic Park? Olympic games in 2012... burger

The Queen owns a drive-through McDonald’s. The Crown Estate is the landlord of the Bath Road Shopping Park in Slough, where there is a McDonald’s. readit

Billingsgate is being torn down as we did a deal with a developer who is giving us a nice premium and will provide us with a new restaurant.

When I last checked Liverpool St Station was number 1 (non Drive Thru) by some margin

The Crown Estate turfed us out of Lower Regent Street a few years ago as we weren't "aspirational enough"

Chap down the lane from me runs a couple of franchises (one of the airports and a train station) and lives in a beautiful place - think he's doing ok.

The only airport we have is in Gatwick and I'm pretty sure that's still Company owned. If his initials are CW then I know the franchisee but he doesn't own stores in an airport or train station

Not spoke to him for years, but *thought* it was Gatwick and one of the train stations at the end of a line from the south coast. Wouldn't think it could be a manager's wage, but don't know the details.

I heard that McDonald's own that site and sold it to the developers but with a caveat that they'd get a restaurant on the ground floor?

I worked at Blackpool south shore, it was reputed to be the busiest in Europe during August and September. They've revamped it since (this was 20years ago) and it's not particularly nice inside anymore.

Don't think it fitted in with the new refurb of the Café Royal, and TBH it wasn't a "nice" Maccie Dees....
