What supports the kitchen worktop ?
Discussion
What supports the kitchen work top / keeps it in place, is it screw to the units below ?
I ask because I want to take a cupboard out under the kitchen work top and put a freestanding dishwasher in, the place I would put it is next to the washing machine, below is a before and after cr*p diagram below, xxxx is the worktop, C is a kitchen cupboard, W is the washing machine and D is the dishwasher. Were I propose to put the dishwasher there is currently a cupboard, I was wondering if I would need to put some kind of support there in the cornder once I remove the cupboard that was there before or will the 2 remain cupboard to the far left be enough to support it ?
After Before

Yes its the kitchen units.
The worktop is screwed to the units from underneath if that makes sense.
You can put a support at the end unless it against a wall then us the wall as the support.
Or run a baton along the back wall to support the full length of the worktop although this will not be as rigid as an end support

you would need to get into the cupboard and undo the angle joints that are screwed into the worktop underneath and the top of the cupboard on both side walls. You would then need to use these to attach the worktop to the wall at the side of the cupboard (I'd put a wooden rail up as a batton for it to lean on and then use the angle joints, I would also put a baton on the wall for the full length of the Washing Machine & Dishwasher for added strength)I ask because I want to take a cupboard out under the kitchen work top and put a freestanding dishwasher in, the place I would put it is next to the washing machine, it would end up looking like my cr*p diagram below

The units with the plinth below are 890mm tall so from floor to work surface its 890mm, I assumed I needed the end panel to be the same height as work top would rest on it, however they only seem to sell it in 910mm tall, I'm I missing something here or do the expect you to cut to required height ?
I am taking out the existing unit but that is raised on legs with plinth below otherwise I would just take the side of it and use that as the side panel.
Just to add were the dishwasher will be and the work surface finishes there is no wall to the side of it, so whatever I have at the end be it side panel or support leg will be doing the work, though I will put a batten across the back wall, to support it as well.

Yes, you cut it to size.I am taking out the existing unit but that is raised on legs with plinth below otherwise I would just take the side of it and use that as the side panel.

This height can vary, nominal is actually 870mm, 720mm carcass, 150mm plinth, so being oversize allows it to be cut to actual size.
