A neighbour had a similar incident with his car. Apparently Opel import owners were rebranding with Vauxhall items.
Interesting. I knew two Germans and a Spaniard who rebranded a Cavalier and two Corsas as Vauxhalls, but only because they thought it was a bit cooler (because of unfamiliarity) than Opel branding.paulshears said:
That was a thing with Vauxhalls and Opels with aftermarket Irmscher grilles for quite a while. I haven't seen it for ages though. Many Vauxhalls with missing badges are imported Opels, you can see the Opel shape on the black mount left behind. My local Vauxhall dealer also likes to "dechrome" it's stock by taking all the chrome off the grille bars and sometimes painting alloy wheels black. Often on base model Corsas to appeal to the yoof, innit?
It's also cheaper than buying an Irmscher grille which has the same appearance and has been available for years on most Vauxhall cars.

The new Vauxhalls have the same grille as Opels. The only difference is that badge. You can see the Opel badge behind on a Vauxhall with the badge missing. So it could have started as a Vauxhall or Opel.
Yeah the grille is the same (and has the outline of an Opel badge underneath the Vauxhall one) the hertz cars I had all had a black Opel logo on the grille where the badge used to be. Definitely a Vauxhall though unless hertz changed the rear badge, alloy badges, interior badges and key fob!
