My folks will be over at the end of the month and I'm planning on booking the Grill at the Dorchester for the one night they are here before they fly off on holiday.

They won't have much in the way of smart clothes with them, will this be an issue? They don't dress like hobos or anything, but jeans and shoes and no jacket.

These sort of places usually have a dress code section on their website. They wont be refused entry in jeans and a shirt but they may feel uncomfortable as most people will be dressed a little more smartly.

Just had a quick Google and nothing specific. I guess a quick phone call. Anyway off to MASH for lunch now....very, very good steak if they wont let you in at The Dorchester Grill!

Dress Code

The Dorchester dress code is ‘smart casual’ and we respectfully ask guests visiting the hotel to refrain from wearing baseball caps, beanie hats, ripped jeans, sportswear, trainers, flip-flops and shorts in our restaurants and bars.

A shirt might be a good idea.

Apropos of not very much, the dresscode notice of the Steamboat Inn, Grafton, Illinois just popped into my mind. "No shoes, no shirt, no service." This marked it out as being a little upmarket. Ah, catfish and fries ...
