Travelling through Stourport tonight was passed by a convoy of 6 unmarked police cars and 2 unmarked motorbikes , at speed . At least 3 of the cars were e63 amg estates , one r36 passat , all with blacked out windows . I say police because they all had flashing blue lights ( in the headlights ) and sirens , no markings . What was happening ?
Theories on a postcard pls ..

Police being a posh Uber for rich people.

I wonder if this work actually pays or do they do it gratis instead of actually doing proper work?

"Proper work"... How is VIP protection not proper work?

Could have been a number of different agencies.

Police won't normally use unmarked bikes for escorts work.

Depends who the VIP is surely? I wish the police were as responsive to day to day crimes as they are at providing a posh taxi service. Who are you protecting some minor royal leech from exactly? They're just the gentries bh and there as the VIPs penis extension. That's fine but don't pretend you're doing anything actually meaningful or "proper" work. I am as at risk from a terrorist attack as the Minister for Pencils He gets a driver and protection. Despite repeated requested my outriders STILL haven't turned up. (Despite I hasten to add a number of Dunkin Donuts mega box back handers).

I saw some protection officers some time ago. They were "protecting" a ex royals child (who is now in her 20's and is actually a nice person despite newspaper reports). It was the most laughable thing I have seen outside of a comedy gig. Even she was embarrassed.

Don't pretend protection in 90% of cases is dangerous or real work.

I don't, but some of it is mandatory.

E.g. Diplomats. Some years ago the Israeli ambassador came into our local city... Low key ...

Was he at risk? Maybe. It is common courtesy to extend full protection to him, as he would receive in London, and our diplomats (generally) receive overseas.

As I say - penis extension "work". Mostly for show. Guess someone has to do it. Would point out that Jerusalem is much more dangerous than central London (thanks in part to Israeli policies) but as you say it has to be done. Not really work though as most here would think of it and certainly not police work as most would imagine. But then if is the Met we're talking about then anything is possible. Those guys have some proper psycho's in the ranks.

Notts police have a very well appointed Range Rover. Circa 90Ks worth with blacked up windows and more surveillance gear than a mission impossible script.

I guess you've worked in close protection or are you simply venting your jealousy?

I've seen unmarked convoys racing around in various places but never cars of that level, apart from senior MPs and royalty and then it's Jags and RangeRovers.

Not long ago a whole bunch on cars passed me on the M42 and they were remarkably ordinary vehicles including an oldish VW van and a SAAB estate but all with blue lights and sirens and going very fast.

Those cars have been seen near Pontrilas Timber merchants. I imagine it's some sort of CRW/CP resource.

Jealous of what exactly? What an odd statement
