Hello.

This is my 2016 Scirocco R DSG, picked it up in March but it sat in the garage for six weeks whilst I finished up working in London. About 700 miles on it or so now.

Ignore the crap in it, I had to make a trip to the dump. Really impressed with it.

Totally standard specification apart from DSG / metallic.

Oh, they've shoehorned the new nav units in!

Was gonna buy one of these before my Mk7 GTI but I'm tall of body and don't fit comfortably!

It's small inside, particularly at the back. I'd say 6ft is about the truly comfortable limit for a full view through the windscreen and side windows - which is handy for me!

Thanks all.

So close!

I take 29.5" trousers. Feel your pain - and understand why you used the very specific phrase 'tall of body' now!

Never realised they was an R version of the Scirocco.

Is it the same engine and AWD system as the Golf?

same engine but FWD only, and they had a very high list price when new
Does it handle the power well enough?

Ive seen a few R Designs in various models but thought the actual R was limited to the Golf.

I want Mazda to hurry up and make their new 3 MPS. Love mine but would quite fancy a newer one.

It's a full R but uses the last variant of the Golf R's engine, so 276bhp rather than the new 300. It's also 2wd, no 4wd / Haldex. The Scirocco R has moved up from 220bhp across its life cycle.

I think it handles the power commendably well and it sounds lovely for what it is. Really like the DSG fart on upshifts.

Coincidentally enough, was chatting to the owner of a gorgeous MPS at the lights yesterday evening. He asked me if it was the same engine as the Golf R too.

In my brief test drive it certainly handled the abuse my right foot gave it. Obviously it's still FWD but it put the power down well. Better than my Mk7 to be honest, but that's got a bit more torque and middling tyres.
